UK politicians have spent much of the last 70 years fighting the European integration of their worst fears while the EU developed into the organisation that they claimed to want. Not helped by some appallingly bad commentary from the misinformed.

4/ Then there is the polling. Reform's pollster says: “Dan gave me a call and said, ‘Look, we want to do this polling.’” He adds: “He's always been my main contact in Reform.” Dan Jukes was Nigel Farage's Chief of Staff. Who authorised him to commission the polling?

3/ Orr's comments raise an even more troubling question. Why did a senior Reform official believe Nigel Farage would “rather not know” about the arrangements being discussed? Had Farage ever instructed his advisers not to brief him on the source or structure of political funding?

2/ On secret payments for polls, his Head of Policy James Orr is recorded saying: “Nigel won't know.” “It's the kind of thing he doesn't want. He would rather not.” But later, Orr says: “He's aware of the support... He knows you're a significant donor.” So what did Farage know?
