Of all the scary scenarios I read in the 60s about how Russia might conquer the USA and destroy everything good about our society, none were as audaciously whacked-out and transparently wrong as this. In the Sputnik and moonshot eras, we learned better than this in grade school.

Paul Szoldra@paulszoldra.com · 4mo agoThirteen U.S. troops died trying to get these people to safety — Afghan interpreters, soldiers, and the families of our service members. Veterans spent sleepless nights during the chaotic withdrawal fighting to keep them alive. Now our own government is going to abandon them.
It's a proud tradition (of very important people who are new on the scene) to teach their grandparents how to suck eggs.

Stay away from those self-checkout lanes, y'all. (Knew *some* companies were doing this - but, shit, Target!) I miss those long-ago days when Tar-zhay was a happy place... Take a pleasant walk around the store and bring home some nice things I hadn't seen everywhere else. No more!

Bailey@shanembailey.com · 4mo agoWe found out several things during the wait. 1) target uses AI for theft prevention which often falsely targets people. 2) they purposly don't notify you if you don't scan all items in a self checkout lane. 3) if u hit the ok button on the self checkout and you miss an item they say thats stealing

We headed back home & stopped at a Wendy’s so I could throw up. After 5 minutes there I said “April Fools!” Based on look both women gave me I never did an April Fools again.
