Ya’akub Ira Vijandre, a 38-year-old pro-Palestine activist and Filipino-American DACA recipient is a photojournalist, and first responder who has been held in ICE detention since Oct. 7, 2025, after federal agents arrested him at gunpoint outside his home in Texas. He was later transferred to the Folkston ICE Processing Center. The U.S. government is seeking to terminate his DACA status and deport him, alleging his social media posts “glorified terrorism.” According to reporting by ATL Press Collective, court filings and hearing transcripts show prosecutors relied on a series of posts that appear to reflect protected political speech and religious expression: 1. Holy Land Foundation The government cited a post referencing the Holy Land Foundation, which prosecutors said was “convicted of providing material aid and support to a designated terrorist organization called Hamas.” Vijandre responded that the post was highlighting alleged due-process violations in the foundation’s prosecution.
