Happy for my friends in MI who did a great job with voting for progressives like Abdul El-Sayed, Donovan McKinney, and William Lawrence. It's amazing to see. Of course, all eyes will be on El-Sayed in November.

First came framing loan caps as protecting students by pressuring universities to keep costs down, with the likely outcome of pushing low-income students out of school. Here’s another policy framed as “helping,” but again premised on exclusion-- protecting students from "low-return” jobs

President Trump is banning students majoring in degrees that don’t make enough money from taking out college loans. Degrees for social work, art, religious studies, teaching aides, and music will be hit the hardest. trib.al/aaAEu6v

Seeing MSNOW calling the Socialism conference a "DSA" conference is funny because it's clear that these folks (naturally) have no idea about how intellectually, ideologically, and political diverse that conference is

If I were a centrist Democrat, which I am not, I would just go all in on reclaiming the social democratic vision of the New Deal. not saying there weren’t any problems w/FDR. But, at some point, someone needs to exercise some real skepticism that the “market” can solve most, if not all, problems.

Something that the white nationalists and supremacists don’t want us to believe— everyone, especially the most vulnerable, deserves to a have a future. And they want us to happily give up having a say. And if not, they’ll violently take that right from us. But, everyone deserves a future

With Joan Sebastian Guerrero, ICE has shot and killed six people (out of 22, including Renee Good) in vehicles in the last year. They've adopted the driver "weaponized" their car as an extension of the "I feared for my life" justification police have used to rationalize killing Black & Brown folks.

A question for my US historian friends: What relatively short books are you assigning in your modern US classes now? They can be primary sources like Baldwin's The Fire Next Time or fiction like O'Brien's The Things They Carried. Im just curious as I am looking to revise my course. Please share!

And, lastly, on the 4th of July weekend, 18-year-old Nolan Wells went on a boat off the Gulf Coast of Mississippi, with some of his friends, all of them white. All of his friends come back, but Wells does not. He's declared missing on July 4 and the authorities find his body on Horn Island on July 6

So let me get this straight: On July 4, the white nationalist and fascist patriot front marched in DC. in an attempt to intimidate folks. Notably, journalists captured images of a Black woman surrounded by a bunch of them while riding a subway.
