A great deal of Mikel's story in "There Is A Stranger Here" is about the connection he has with his now grown son, after the death of Mikel's wife. The connection has weakened, and he doesn't know how to make it better. Chasing down a killer won't help him find the time to reconnect either... πŸͺπŸ“šπŸ’™

A glimpse inside "There Is A Stranger Here "
"In poured the group that had travelled with the heir. Guards came first, pretending to search the room for danger, but quickly breaking into smiles as they caught sight of their loved ones amongst the crowd at the tables. Servants and pages swarmed in soon after, running laughing into the crowd and embracing their own friends and family. Mikel searched the sea of faces for a glimpse of his son. His chest was tight. Surely he has come home safely?
Then Mikel saw him. Near the back, walking alongside the heir as he strolled into the great hall, one arm raised in greeting, his face shining in happiness. Mikel’s smile stretched even further across his cheeks, and a sudden wave of relief spread through his body like fresh water. It was as though his arms and legs were melting. He stood at the table, not caring that one of the richer merchants of Blackriver who sat beside him was staring. All he wanted to do was keep watching as his son returned to him."The cover of There is a stranger here by Aaron Dick Order your own copy at https://books2read.com/u/bogVv9 or check out https://linktr.ee/aarondickauthor

A moment in my fantasy thriller where the main character, Mikel, looks over one of the dead bodies he is investigating as commander of the castle guards. Find out what happened to the poor boy by picking up a copy for yourself! πŸͺπŸ“šπŸ’™

A glimpse inside "There Is A Stranger Here"."Somehow the dead body looked less threatening now, laid flat on a wooden tabletop, with cold light slowly filling the chamber. Last night, in the wind and rain, with an hysterical young woman panicking beside him, Mikel had known that the thing was a bad omen. The blackness of the night had clustered tightly behind his shoulders and his nerves had frayed almost to the point of breaking. He had expected the body to sit up and point a bloody hand accusingly at him, or for some beast to launch itself from the shadows, all teeth and claws and pain.
But now, in the morning, he was just looking down at the results of another accident, something he had done many times before. Each time, he felt deep sorrow for the family that would be left behind. He knew this poor boy here had suffered something terrible, but at least his suffering was over as he travelled beyond Mercy’s crossroads."The cover of "There Is A Stranger Here ".Order your own copy at https://books2read.com/u/bogVv9
