Querying Author. Romantasy. 110k words.

“It’s like being wrapped in a stranger’s arms, a hug meant for someone else. Too tight. Too knowing. I’m not who they want. I’m a shape molded to fit a story already in motion. They haven’t chosen me. They chose what I’ve become. What they need.”

The image behind the text is a border that is dark blue with gold stars with a black background with neon blue border. An illustrated caticorn holding a pencil and writing in a book with a rose behind one ear is in the lower right corner. A different version of the same illustrated caticorn is curled up writing in the lower left corner

I’m thinking about leaning into the themes in my next pitch bc even though it’s romance, it’s really about a girl learning she doesn’t have to follow rules, she can make them. And that sometimes you can only find yourself in your darkest moments. Lmk what yall think. I’m still new to pitches.

🌷THE LAST OF SPRING “They will forget about you. Mortal lives are fleeting. They will be dead before you hit a quarter of your life.” His words stung, but mine were the truth I clung to like a shield. “It doesn’t matter. They love me.” “Love does not make someone immortal.” #questpit #Q #A #RF

This is the title page for the book. In the background there is a forest ground with leaves and pick flowers. Slightly off center of the ground is a golden crown. In glowing letters across the crown says THE LAST OF SPRING (book title) above that it was “agents guide to” and below the title it says “this isn’t a fairytale.” At the very bottom of the page it explains the stats of the books “a fantasy romance by Willow James. 110k words- now querying” The background is the same as the title page (all the pages have the same background). In glowing gold at the top it says “the pitch” and then under in white is the pitch. “ When straight-laced Xylia breaks the rules for the first time, she is thrust into the world of the Fae-betrothed to the prince and heir who claims she is the lost princess to the Spring Court. As he surrounds her with lavish affection and distracting balls, she begins to question everything when she meets his younger brother, who reveals a dangerous truth: the crown belongs to her and spring. Now Xylia must choose between the prince who claims to love her, the throne that is her birthright, and the heart that feels like home.” All pages have the same background as the first. At the top of this page in glowing gold says “the comps”. There are three comps. Going from left to right. FROM BLOOD AND ASH- under it says the reason why it is a comp: “love triangle between two powerful men, political manipulation, & self discovery over time”. Next, RED QUEEN: “hidden royalty, betrayal, rebellion brewing under controlled society” Last, A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES: “seasonal courts, magic systems, mortal to fae transition”
All the backgrounds are the same as the first. At the top in gold glowing letters “the opening”. Below in white letters is the first 3 paragraphs from the opening of the book. “I've never had control of my life. Even now, curling the last section of my hair in front of the mirror, a restless pull whispers that I don't belong here. At any moment, the edges could give way, and I'd be drawn into the life I'm meant to have. Something magical. Something that fits better than... this.
As a kid, I used to daydream I was anything but human. A werewolf. An elf. A fairy. In my more dramatic teenage moments, I even considered running away and hoping a vampire would capture me. Being undead would be easier than being inadequate.
I roll my eyes at my reflection and point the curling iron like a wand. "Stop it, Xylia. Rule two of going out—no beginning the night in a bad mood."”
