Really wonderful piece from 2002. Seems extra apropos in this AI-mess of a world we’re in.

Reader. Writer. Teacher. He/Him. ANTI-AI.
Of course the legendary Chuck Palahniuk just published a brilliant essay on S*bstack about the importance of solving challenges within your work by actually WRITING as opposed to using genAI. He says: “If you want to be “transgressive” you need to get some skin in the game.” YES, CHUCK. YES!!!
Nothing like a good rejection letter. (Also, screw AI and anyone who uses it.)
Statement from the HWA Board of Trustees: The Executive Leadership and Trustees on the Board of the Horror Writers Association has voted to remove Sephera Giron from her position as Trustee effective immediately.
I wrote this story for Fiction Writing I, back in 2002, I think; it’s 17-pages of a man running from townsfolk as he morphs into a werewolf. My professor and my peers did not approve. (Blood added later, I’m guessing?)
Horror is really just comedy with its guts spewing out in steaming piles.
🎲🫖NEW EPISODE!🫖🎲 It’s finally time for one of our most requested episodes - Grace from Ready or Not (2019)! What makes her such a compelling Final Girl, and how does she set the FG standard? Listen now! Spotify open.spotify.com/episode/2VuT... Apple podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/f...
@finalgirlspodcast.bsky.social Love this movie (and the sequel). Satisfying in every way. This is such a fun discussion of this movie that brought back my favorite moments. (Grace is my favorite recent Final Girl.) podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/f...
Ha! I guess I printed out @stephenking.bsky.social ‘s The Cannibals. A cool artifact. I’d love to read the whole thing, incomplete as it is. Maybe an idea for @bevvincent.bsky.social or @carolinebicks.bsky.social
I just found the catalog my father ordered it from. Looks like the kind of thing @stephengrahamjones.com might like…
I still have the human skull, but the sabertooth skull was long ago lost to the ages. (Actually, my brother stole it and sold it for drug money.)
Unearthed my writings going back to high school and even earlier. This is how it’s done. You write and write and write and write. And get rejected again and again. (Check out my rejection letter!)
I have a “complicated” relationship with my brother, but I’ll never forget when he played THE PROS AND CONS OF HITCHHIKING for me. Love that album.
Reminder that AI is enshit-tifying everything. It’s a plague.
Almost at page 280. The world insists I go faster, so the more slowly I shall go.
August 12, 2025, I started handwriting a novel. I’ve averaged about a page a day (some days I’ve written literally one sentence), and today I’m on page 278. It’ll be a few more months until it’s done. Then I’ll let it sit, and begin typing it up. Slow and steady, like the tortoise. That’s my secret.
I've got two books in my shop for all of you Gothic fans! Both of these are in stock over at www.katherinesilvaauthor.com/shop More goodies await there, too... More info in 🧵

I’d never seen a buffalo nickel until today when my wife proved she’s been holding out on me.
Had a blast last night in Beacon. @paultremblay.bsky.social @johnlangan.bsky.social And JAWS outside! (And the best author inscription ever.)
Dreamed about The Odyssey. Now listening to the score. Masterpiece.
