Watching the old Inspector Gadget cartoon with our kid and was struck by this sad idea that so much of the TV shows from our childhoods were engineered to keep us company while our parents fought in the background.

Each bubble is networked, so pushing down on one will only push the air into its neighbor. Meaning it won’t pop. They really are trying to take all the joy out of the world...

Popless packing bubbles

I've been having an interesting time lately completing edits and final drafts on stories I wrote and forgot about for years; in some cases, close to eight(!) It's tremendously therapeutic, and probably the closest I've come to feeling like I was reading someone else's writing.

I'm convinced the people who let their clothes sit in the washing machine at a crowded laundromat are the same people who stand in busy doorways and stairwells to look at their phone.

I was running through the falling snow when I saw a boy across the street, probably between 5-7 years of age, looking down at everything else on the block from atop the largest pile of machine-driven snow in the neighborhood.

You what might be way better than soccer the way it is now is a) no teams, and b) one goal with no goalie and a bunch of people on the field trying to steal the ball from each other.
