setTimeout makes me feel like I'm punishing my JavaScript. "Go sit in the corner for 3000 milliseconds."
We know that LLMs aren't a path to general intelligence right? Like the entire stock market is propped up on the promise that labor is going to zero and not that people actually believe we are nearing AGI, Right??

I like my automation to be deterministic, not probabilistic.
About 90% of the sponsorship requests I get are for "AI" related things. I got an email today for a company that does some automation stuff, and not once in their email did they reference or talk about AI. It's so refreshing that a company that automates things hasn't rebranded to AI.
I blame this UI pattern on two historical development trends. Poor form persistence, causing users to distrust the back button. And SPAs abandoning browser history altogether and reimplementing it in UI.
The top hn comment on a post about rationalist cults being positive, is so on brand it's like 360° irony.
If I was an accessibility audit vendor, I would submit a list of specific, concrete tasks to fix, and not whatever the hell I was just given.
look, sometimes people shouldn’t blog — this is a wild pivot from me I know
Meticulously debugging headers only to find out I'm hitting the wrong API.
Zaku II has the shield on the wrong shoulder. Shield on the left means you can fire right-handed while covering yourself. And if your gonna ram someone with a spiked pauldron, you probably want to do it with your dominant side.
Torn on deepening my react skills because that's what's being hired for given I think react is bad tech and shouldn't be used.
I love how we re-invented the long compile time break with "modern" JavaScript.
My Internet provider decided to give me the day off 🙌 Happy May Day
Learning obscure programming languages so I can't be replaced with AI.
I think AI business model is to get people to vibe code themselves into a hole so they have to start from scratch and prompt again.
At least vim movements work in my vibe coding prompt text inputs, so also this arcane knowledge wasn't a total waste.
🏳️⚧️My friend played a gig tonight supporting Trans Continental Pipeline - helping queer people move to CO for safety. They've gone from ~40 requests per month in October, to ~400/mo since november, and need support. Can you chip in? Or do you need help? https://tcpipeline.org/
it was a cold, still night on the front lines — me & the other boys in the 121st digital regiment shared nervous eye contact as our breath turned to steam. the deployment to prod was scheduled for 2 hrs before dawn on friday and something didn’t feel right to us…our platoon never deployed on friday.
programming should feel like war
