Being randomly sent out to do field work is why my steel toed shoes just live in my car now. Do I really NEED them in most cases? No. But better safe than sorry. 🤷🏻♀️

When you're peacefully enjoying the bunnies near you and then end up in a National Geographic scene. 😳
So a little while ago, the crows at my house left a perfect feather on my windshield. It's been tucked in my passenger visor ever since. Not even actually WINDY where I was sitting tonight, and it flies out into my lap. Likely that nothing will happen there, sure. But bet your ass that I left. 😳
I'm surprised to see talk happening about kids not being taught how to type? Like, I get that we use phones a lot, but computers are still integral to a lot - aren't they? Shit, I'm such a weirdo that I *entertain* myself with websites that test my typing speed, cause I like maintaining my 100wpm.
I was feeding dog treats to this crow and realized they were picking stuff up and holding it. Next thing I knew, baby (2-3 months old) came squawking over to be fed. Demanding little shit flapping its wings in a huff. Lol
Y'know, some people don't think you should "bribe" dogs - but when it comes to health/safety? Bribe the fuck out of them. Make those trades. Flynn managed to get a plum despite our fencing. Guess what - a treat is better than him swallowing the pit, so guess what he spit out for me?
Do you talk on the phone much? Cause I don't. Sometimes with my mom but that's about it outside of work. A friend (acquaintance but we share enough about our lives that it's friends territory) called me for the first time yesterday. Ended up talking for like half an hour. It was weird but great.
So mom's test results came back confirming cancer, and she's scheduled for a lumpectomy in just over a month. Asked if she wanted me to move my vacation, but she's a stubborn bitch (lovingly) and said her surgeon didn't call for that kind of help after. My brain won't really process atm though. 😕
Do I actually want to BE a fire alarm tech? Meh, probably not. Do I love that tomorrow will be my third day this week BEING ONE instead of being in the office? Hell fucking yes. Working with one of my fave techs again too. Sign me up. 😊
Me, jumping on a "y'know I never thought representation when I was a kid" comment [on a YouTube video stating that] - Well YKNOW - this is where the "white privilege" thing you don't really understand starts to come into play.... [insert my mind breaking cause I thought I could GET SOMEWHERE.]
I got so little sleep last night that I really wanted my alarm to be *wrong* this morning. No sleep and emotionally drained. Great combo for a Monday morning. 🙄 Good news though, no Stairs of Doom at this school.
It's about 110km to get to the burger place that I want to eat at. They used to have a place in my city but rent is stupid. I still a) love the burgers and b) love that they're celiac safe. So to drive just over an hour on a Sunday? Yes. I had a burger today. 😊
This whole hybrid office admin/fire alarm tech that I was 100% not hired to do (admin yes, tech no) is the funnest thing I've done in a long time. I'm scheduled for tech work at two different locations next week and not back in the office til Wednesday. I love it.
Showed my elk pictures to my friend and now we're going to go elk (picture)-hunting on the weekend. Well, hopefully. If I've learned anything, it's that the times I actually MAKE plans with people something happens. 🙃
Friend I haven't talked to in a couple months ran into me the other day. Just briefly, hugs, get in touch, the usual. Actually saw her tonight to hang out for a few hours and it was great. I really don't do that enough.
I appreciate the urgency of Amber Alerts. You know what DOESN'T need to wake me up with a heart attack at midnight? The phone alarm for an amber alert that's 4 hours PLUS a two hour ferry ride away. These need to be regional. Fuck.
They say don't pick the low blackberries cause a dog could have peed on them. I say "what low blackberries? They're already eaten." #dogsofbluesky
It's almost 6pm. This is unnecessary. I mean, it's unnecessary at any time of day but cripes... Cool down.
When you immediately regret your decision to offer to assist testing at a site. 😂
Dear parental figures: Please stop thinking that you're "helping" by not disclosing medical things that you're going through from your kids. Cause once we find out we're going to be PISSED that we haven't been helping the whole time.
So in my (apparently continuing) adventures of having bugs fly INTO my shirt... Today it was a fucking wasp. In what must have been record-breaking processing skills, I realized the damn thing was clinging inside of my shirt so pulling it off would invite a face /head sting.
Retail therapy? Yes. Christmas decorations in July? I mean who can resist the clearance pricing you find right now...
I ended a long-term "situationship" last night and broke my own heart in the process. Of course that is exactly why it had to happen... But ultimately I did also lose someone who had been amazingly supportive and encouraging as a friend just like I was for him and it just sucks overall. 😕
Community is spending four hours looking for a dog you don't even know. Poor guy. Small dog in a raptor /cougar area isn't encouraging. 😕
I had to pull out my bird app where I'm reading right now cause I had no idea what I was hearing. It's baby Barred Owls. I know the adult sounds very well - have never heard the fledglings before. Suuuuper cool. (the sound is actually rather creepy, look up immature barred owl sounds, but still. 😂)
Today was Mina's first day at work with other people in the office. Our main lady LOVES her, and surprisingly for Mina, she actually warmed up to her already and was sitting by her chair for pets. Mina is usually more reserved, unless it's with Tiny Humans (aka kids).
Flynn was estimated to be just under a year old when I got him, and for the life of me I can't imagine what could have happened to him that he LOSES IT at scissors for grooming at all, but I can literally use a buzzing razor to even do his belly and he doesn't care. He's an interesting dog....
I didn't have enough of a local for my first toenail removal, but I didn't know any better until the second time was WAY easier. (my doc was horrified when he realized I'd just dealt with it) Can't even imagine the alcohol injection on top of that. Fuck.
I hope she gets every penny and then some
