In this case, the WH correspondents dinner is a perfect representation of a system in which the people follow the journos who receive both recognition & ridicule from a corrupt & vile authoritarian leader while passively enabling & legitimizing the system and its manifold consequences.

When we’ve been raised, & our institutions have been organized, to see all Israel’s done as correct & all Palestinians have done as incorrect, & when this has been reinforced since 2000 & especially after 10/7, the response of many Jews to the Nakba exhibit is entirely expected.
It took 1.5 terms in office and there is finally an actor that is willing to defy Donald Trump.
Vance, Carlson, Kent, & even Trump are saying truthful things on Israel, anti-semitism, & Israel-US dynamics, & it does reflect what many think but never dare to say, but these sentiments are wielded instrumentally for 1 reason or another, & these folks will never help Palestine.
It does feel as though there will be, at some point, an ignominious end to it all.
The NHL & NHLPA statements on Babs are exactly what you’d expect from authorities who’ve dealt with a guy who’s got a record of doing stuff that’s not so very good but who are not in possession of any info that would permit them to sanction. No penalty. No exoneration.
When we see these clips of the world leaders at the G7 how can we feel any hope for humanity at all?
The moment the US government takes action that forces Israel to negotiate with and arrive at a just political resolution with the Palestinian national movement will be the only true moment when American policy in the Middle East changes and when America breaks with Israel.
