A couple of oddities from a Mendip grassland - Common Spotted orchid with a dark stem and a Southern Marsh orchid with unusual lip patterning
Greater Butterfly orchid on Mendip today at a regular site; could only find 2 plants but this one out in the open was good value
I think this is the hybrid between Sea and Bladder Campions, from a known site.

My trip looking for orchids today was rather thin pickings so it was good to bump into a couple of Marsh Fritillaries
A bit of a slog on Mendip was rewarded with this rather fine Early Purple orchid. Not quite what I was expecting as in previous years it's been all white!
