I always forget to crosspost general text posts about writing from tumblr but I am planning something special for the FFXV 10th Anniversary and it will involve writing a ‘remix’ chapter of my canon-compliant promnis fic Another Sun Rises ☀️ A bit more on my FFXV thoughts in the attached screenshots

this year it'll be 10 years since FFXV first released (not counting dic's that shouldn't have been dic content that
came out in the few years after ) and I have a lot of thoughts about what this game means to me as someone who never actually played it myself but it kind of saved me during the darkest time in my 20s (and then inspired me to write one of the best longfics I've ever published) and maybe I'll write a short essay to expand on this or do something creative to celebrate the anniversary when it's time but yeah

it's not a game I talk about as much as a couple of the other FF's and I have many criticisms because I think there was so much potential for what the game/story could have been but despite my critiques of this game I do have a very special fond place for FFXV in my heart and I associate so much positivity with it

Raine returned to Ellone with a bright smile on her face giving away no sign of her pain-and then she sat back down at the table with baby Squall propped up on her lap. She raised him up to the tabletop so he could look at the flowers, and Squall immediately reached forward to take a flower into his hand.
Raine smiled down at him. "Do you like the flowers, Squall?"

Squall squeezed his hand around the flower and was shocked to see the petals fall when he apparently squeezed too hard. He glanced up to his mother with apprehension and made a small noise of complaint.

"Don't worry! Here's another one..." Raine gave Squall another flower to hold.

Baby Squall put the flower up to his nose, but he planted his nose right into the middle of the blossom and then whined as he dropped it.

Raine gently laughed as Squall made a quiet sneeze and she took a handkerchief to wipe his nose. "I don't know about your plan, Ellone... Squall's having a tough time with the flowers."

Within Shadow, A Friendship Blossoms

"Squall!" Firion cried.

How many times had he stood and watched a friend perish? How many times had he been powerless to save them?

"No..." Firion clenched his fists, resolve swelling in his heart. "Not this time."

Firion sprinted across the flower field, Ultimecia's laughter deafened by his pounding heartbeat, and he leaped in front of Squall to face Ultimecia's attack head-on.

"Firion?" Squall gasped. "What are you doing?"

"I won't let you die!"

As the black orb hit Firion, Ultimecia slashed her claws into him—but instead of rendering flesh, she shattered reality itself. The earth and sky spiraled, stretched, and melted away into nothingness. Firion's insides twisted, head spinning and pulsing until he landed facedown in a dark stone chamber. Large, flaming sconces rested along the walls carved with strange, but familiar, engravings.

"Mysidia Tower?" Firion groaned. "Or is this death?"
