I Love Boosters was so good! It was everything and more I hoped it might be. So good to see original cinema that feels relevant and refreshing. Great sets, acting, directing, cinematography, costumes, everything.

I think I’ve finally got the overlap bug out of my ‘Zipatone’ pattern brush for Procreate. It was fine unless you zoomed out. This means I’ll be able to offer through my Kofi soon as part of a pack I’m developing.

A blog of a Zipatone pattern surrounded by a light blue comic panel.

I want to make a comic that explains how art is more than technical skill and is more about what story it tells. I think it’s the main thing that AI lovers don’t get. It’s not all about technical skill necessarily, it’s about heart and intention.

I need to find someone with some programming / coding experience that is also interested in writing comics. I have a fully developed concept for a small app for writing comics.

We went to an awesome fireworks display last night with a collection of songs to go with it. A couple next to us was visibly concerned after they played an Indian sounding bop, “are they going to play a Canadian artist … “ they were very relieved when Bryan Adams came on 😂

We’re on vacation in the place we’re staying has pre-ground coffee and a coffee maker. The coffee actually tastes pretty good but we’re all convinced it’s decaf 😂

Just over a month ago I changed my job. Still with the library but a new location with different responsibilities. I’m glad to say I no longer dread going to work. A combination of a better situation and an attitude change.

Last week the despair got a little too much. I had to make a comic about the feeling even though I’m being a little bit repetitive here. I’ve been having a better week since this and I have some cool things I’m working on right now to distract me.

A four panel comic that shows the author sitting on the couch late at night. They look distressed and worried.
The text reads,
1- 12:05 AM, PUTTING OFF GOING TO BED.
UGHHH.
OH MANIT SUCKS.

2- SITTING HERE TRYING TO BLANK OUT. TRYING NOT TO THINK ABOUT WORK TOMORROW AND HOW MUCH I DON'T WANT TO GO.
CMON
GET UP!

3- I LIKE MY COWORKERS... I HAVE A GOOD JOB.
MY WHOLE LIFE IS CENTRED AROUND A JOB! I HATE IT, I HATE IT...

4- IT'S THE FACT I DONT HAVE A CHOICE. I HAVE TO GO IN. IF IT WASNT THIS JOB IT WOULD BE ANOTHER...
IT'S NOT EVEN A BAD JOB...

IT'S JUST
INESCAPABLE.

At this point I’m just a parody of myself.

I like to name my layers in Procreate. So I have layers with names like ‘roughs’, ‘inks’, ‘lettering’ ‘balloons’, etc. This last year I’ve added a new stage to my process. I use a faded magenta to outline my speech balloons. But I didn’t know what to call the layer. Then it hit me. ‘Pinks’
