I work in a number of different genres and media –– theatre, calligraphic book arts, literary arts. My books for young people are in various genres –– craft books, non-fiction books, picture books, poetry, middle grade, and YA fiction. "Looking at the Sky" combined then all.

On December 8, in 1894, James Thurber was born. I grew up reading Thurber. I wish I could say that he turned me into a humorist, but sadly, no. I’m one of the least funny writers on the planet. But his sharp, eccentric characters have stayed with me always. Ta-pockita-pockita, Mr. Thurber!
