This week’s main story is about how police use surveillance tools like cameras, microphones, license plate readers, “cell site simulators,” and the practice of “predictive policing,” to create a world that has been lovingly described as “Big Brother on steroids.” Full segment at the link in our bio.

For no reason at all, here's the email for Capitol Hill Block Party (happening this Sat/Sun): info@capitolhillblockparty.com We don't suggest u email them ur thoughts, call for artists to speak against police surveillance on stage, or bring an anti-surveillance sign/shirt/hat to spark conversation!
Angry at the 10 big-event businesses exploiting a tragedy to strong arm City into wasting more money on ineffective police surveillance cameras ...maybe it's time to organize a boycott?

"While #Flock concentrates its efforts on #surveillance cameras, #Axon is a full-line privacy invader with an entire public safety ‘ecosystem‘ that incorporates not only its #ALPR and CCTV cameras, but also Axon products such as body cameras, drones, and small uncrewed ground vehicles."

Is a switch to Axon actually a win for digital privacy? Examine why changing camera networks fails to reduce the overall scale of vehicle tracking.

If your city is suspending or cancelling #Flock, remember that "switching to another #ALPR vendor" is NOT the solution. Dragnet bulk data collection is the core problem. #Flock is just one particularly egregious example. Mass #surveillance does not make any of us safer! 🚫
President Trump bought up to $5 million in shares of Axon Enterprise two weeks before ICE sought a $220 million contract that appeared tailored to the company’s weapons. Axon shares rose more than 22% in the month after Trump’s purchase.

JUST IN: Trump bought up to $5 million of Axon stock. Two weeks later, ICE moved toward a $220 million Taser deal. Axon makes Tasers. Axon also controls 90% of the US Taser market. And the White House says there are “no conflicts of interest.”

Trump purchased up to $5 million in shares of Axon Enterprise just weeks before ICE issued a notice seeking a contract worth up to $220 million for equipment that experts say only Axon is positioned to provide. The White House has said there is “no conflict of interest”. 🙄
“Last week, Axon announced a new line of cameras called Axon Body Workforce designed to be worn by workers in retail and in healthcare. While Axon did not explicitly mention the Workforce line of cameras in its announcement, the company said that the Fusus acquisition directly supports this push.”

Today I spoke at a Community Not Cameras event organized to hold @mayorofseattle.bsky.social to her promise of shutting the SODO extension cameras down post-FIFA (She did) I'll post video tomorrow, but here's a good quote from @fox13seattle.bsky.social www.fox13seattle.com/news/seattle...
Not sure how the media missed this, but the feds now offer grants to cities to expand their surveillance. Axon grossly overcharges for everything from ALPRs to drones to VR taser simulation training programs. The taser deal is just a sliver of how much tax revenue is handed to Axon.
Axon is infiltrating our cities, communities and consciousness to extract profit by tracking our every move. We must stop Axon. This is the fight of our lives, and for the livelihood of our future. TURN THE CAMERAS OFF! CANCEL THE CONTRACTS!! GET YOUR AXON OUTTA HERE!!!
Thank you Seattle City Councilmember Rinck @councilmember-amr.bsky.social for standing with us. When our civil liberties are under attack, we stand up & fight back!
