Life on Social Media

Fragments and flecks,
Slivers and snippets,
Dribbles and drips,
Life cut down to clippings,
Excerpts from one's existence,
Morsels forming tiny mouthfuls
Devoured by the hungry mob,
A few pickings never being enough.

Insults and indignities,
Affronts and abuses,
Offenses and outrages,
Life cut into tattered ribbons
As debris blows in virtual winds
Swirling in teapot tempests
Stirred up by miserable trolls,
A few typhoons never being enough.

Misinformation and mockeries,
Fabrications and frauds,
Libels and lies,
Life warped by propaganda bots
Gaslighing the general public,
Misleading those they encounter,
Spreading mistruths as facts,
A few falsehoods never being enough.

Fancies and fantasies,
Dogmas and delusions,
Misunderstandings and misconceptions,
Life according to internet influencers
Pushing palpably questionable expertise
On all pushovers within virtual earshot,
Forever promoting pseudo-philosophies,
A few converts never being enough.

Enough is enough, already!

The terrible lizard laughs.
Stomp on the tree ferns!

Here we go a wallowing
Down in the pig pits.

Brontosaurus footsteps
Precede the savage storm.
The primeval jungle trembles.

Stuff your face with slop.
Long live the belching boar!

A comet blasted the behemoth.
A dark cloud covered the sty.
The ruling reptile lost his throne.

All hail!
The overly exalted hog!

Where is Tyrannosaurus now?
Covered in miles of petrified muck.
The sow is inspired.

A pig, is a pig, is a pig,
But a pig by any other name
Is a dirty, disgusting,
Homo sapiens.

The Abominable Snowman Snowless

Once his cherished snowfields melted, the Himalayan Yeti faced an identity crisis. With pebbly vale and rocky peak stripped bare, he could not leave tracks to flummox those human adventurers that ventured up into his lofty domain.

The pathetic beast pondered his plight. He sat on a stone and sobbed. The thought that he would fade away like the vanished snows twisted his gut into tangled knots.

Then the brute got a ridiculous notion. He donned a broad hat and long coat, booked a flight to Miami, and moved next door to his cousin, the Skunk Ape of the Everglades.

“We have a genuine extraterrestrial signal,” a SETI technician announced excitedly as he adjusted the knob on the receiver. Every scientist in the crowded dark room gathered closer as a series of strange cosmic messages came through the crackling speakers.
“Invest twenty-million Sentorian craduples in our tetrahedron scheme and make quadrillions.”
“Buy our chartreuse wonder pills for natural tentacle enhancement.”
“Meet hot and horny single amoeboids near you.”
Eager looks soon gave way to expressions of shock, embarrassment, and mild amusement as the truth of the matter became apparent.
“Gentlemen,” one grey-haired scientist declared gravely. “We’ve been spammed from space.”
