PJM missed its reliability target for the 2nd year. Less new generation bid into capacity for the third year running, while data center load growth continues to accumulate. When we think of how strained the grid was last week, remember we are currently operating within the reliability target.

On Friday PJM filed for a two year extension of the price collar, which will (partially) shield ratepayers from spiking capacity prices in the region (without the collar the 27/28 BRA would have been 60ish% higher than the already record high price). This did not happen in a vacuum.

So, Maryland Investor Owned Utility BGE fired 47 union employees - while keeping contract labor - last week, referencing its ability to recover costs.... At the same time posting yet ANOTHER year of record profits and having tens, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars for Superbowl ads.... Cool
