All of the pieces for the first batch of laser cut editions of The Liminal Seed are ready to go! Now I just need to get them all assembled. Stay tuned for announcements for when this first batch of four is ready!
I'm running my next Introduction to Paper Cutting Workshop on September 5th and registration is now OPEN! Come on out and spend an afternoon with me learning hands on about the art of paper cutting. Register Here: shorturl.at/3Q2yJ
Take a peek at the next two pieces I want to work on! First will be a little 5x7" forest spirit, and then I plan on creating a storm cloud piece with Grecian influence.
We've had a bit of a heat wave this week (90s in Seattle! 🥵), so I'm enjoying looking back at an older underwater piece and thinking of cool places. . "Reef Protectors" (2017)
I feel that my cutting and layering techniques have improved for depicting the Aurora Borealis in The Empyrean Gate from my first northern lights piece, Godafoss back in 2017. This piece is tiny! Only 6x6", but it holds a whole world in the details!

We are excited to welcome our July-August guest artist, Alex Barr, to the studio! Alex is a local artist and illustrator. Most recently, he's been working tirelessly on his first ever and ongoing polyamorous sapphic webcomic, Pink Sugar! Author signing/opening reception July 11th from 1-7pm!
Just look at this little piece! The layers are all cut out, now I just need to space them out, assemble it, and dial in the lighting!
"Godafoss" was my first attempt at creating an Aurora Borealis effect with my work. I'm excited to see and share how my newest little aurora piece compares! I'm trying out some different and updated layering techniques, that I think will create a really cool effect. 🤞
From large to tiny! This little 6x6" piece is my current little project. The aim is to create a scene with aurora borealis lighting!
Some more detail photos of "Surface Tension"! There's a lot of beautiful visual moments packed into this piece.
A quick video tour of "Surface Tension"! It's made of hand cut layered paper and light. That's it, and it's magical. ✨️

I'm not kidding about the how crazy the bubbles are for my current kingfisher piece, and these ones are itty bitty! Check out some of the techniques and process I developed to make it happen!
It's my birthday today! 🥳 . "Flight of Memory" (2016)
I've been steadily chipping away at my kingfisher piece. This one has been a bit of a monster to work on with all of the crazy bubbles! I'm working on the next to last layer at the moment and some of the bubbles on the current layer are absolutely minuscule. I have to place them on the tip of a pin!
I just got a new laser cutter! I've been saving up for it over the last few years. The new machine is an Epilog Ascent and will provide more consistent, professional grade work. The Muse put in some good work for me over the last 9 years, but has found a new home at a local arts non-profit group!
I just love this piece. That is all. . "Exposed" (2022)
Progress update! I'm in the middle of layer 5 out of about 6 full layers. The bubbles are extremely time intensive to cut and layer up with vellum.
Progress on my current piece has been steady, but agonizingly slow. I'm not a very patient person, but I am determined and I look forward to completing my kingfisher piece. Let's do a bit of a throwback to "The City of Vaartu" to celebrate the slow things in life.
So many bubbles. I know, I know. I did this to me! 😅 It's a slow process, but the end result is worth it! I'm breathing life into the paper to create this kingfisher piece!
We are welcoming local abstract artist, Dane Cory, to the studio for May through June! All of his work is done entirely by hand! We are hosting an opening reception in tandem with the monthly @GeorgetownArtAttack neighborhood art walk! The studio will be open from 1-7pm with light refreshments.
Bubbles. I've been playing with vellum layering techniques quite a bit for the shading in the bubbles for this piece. I think it's going to look pretty cool when it's all finished!
Spring is my favorite season and I've been enjoying the quiet lull in the mornings, the pop of new life, and long afternoons. It gives me a sense of peace to see proof that things will bounce back when given space to breathe. . "Insulation" (2018, Commissioned Piece)
Guess what?! 10 fine art archival quality giclée prints of "Doomfish" are now available! These beautiful, large 16x30" prints are the same size as the original piece (14x28") plus a 1" white margin. . Available in studio or through my online shop! ( shorturl.at/Mz6tb )
I'm making progress on the big kingfisher piece! It's proving to require some fairly complex vellum layering for the bubble effects, but it's looking really cool. I can't wait to share more progress and see how the final piece turns out!
Happy Earth Day, everyone! If you didn't know already, environmental sciences and sustainability have been a passion of mine for a long time. Today I'm celebrating Earth Day and my 8th wedding anniversary with my amazing husband! . Here's a little throwback to "The Golden Wood" (2017)
