Just finished another peer review Over the past year I’ve reviewed 10+ papers across different journals but this is the first time I’ve wanted to recommend a direct accept. Really excited about this study and admire the author’s dedication to such an important project. Can’t wait to see it in print

(Oct 24–26) Attended our very first AACS conference, where we organized a panel titled “Transnational Imaginaries of Superiority and (Dis)Empowerment.” Our brilliant chair and discussant, Jiwon Yun (Yale University), offered such insightful comments and helped spark amazing cross-study discussions.

Like many friends, peers, and colleagues, the inspiration from sociologists like Michael Burawoy is the reason I am where I am now. 不知为何，他的去世首先让我想起在广州三元里第一次见李姐Thomas Fang Peng时的画面，记忆犹新，差不多快十年了。后来我们在学而优书店讨论过“naive式的美好”（naive beauty），在社区春节联欢晚会上和“反压迫戏剧”小组的老乡们表演了“来广州打工”的故事，最后在广州机场送他离开。不久后我也去了澳洲。

The International Sociological Association (ISA) deeply mourns the tragic passing of Michael Burawoy, a leading sociologist, Professor of Sociology at UC Berkeley, and the 17th President of ISA. Michael was fatally struck in a hit-and-run accident on February 3rd. His loss is immeasurable.
