In print in seven countries, first poet (honored by NASA to be) published to another planet. Once sang William Blake's poetry with Allen Ginsberg. Joseph Gordon-Levitt workshopped one of my poems into a screenplay. Prior nursery owner & orchid judge.

In Print For The First Time: I speculate on what distinguishes us from the other animals with whom we share the planet. What is our distinctively unique feature as beings? With this haiku, newly published in MICROSCOPIC, I suggest it may not be speech or tool use (or even opposable thumbs).

DARWIN’S ORCHID AND THE HAWK MOTH OF TOMORROW’S PREDICTION “...Bah!” said his peers, when he told them they’d find it. Generations later, it was found (hah! ) on this orchid, and the proboscis fit! Facts and logic informed his prediction, yet they called him mad for his conviction.
