I can't believe I seriously have to consider algorithm no no words when naming my video game Wouldn't be surprised if fewer games with 'kill', 'death' or 'gun' in the title come out in the next few years

I'm largely a solodev and I've worked with Kitty since 2020 and it has been legit amazing for my planning and organising, and staying on track Plus great sparring partner, knows her shit, tells you like it is without losing focus of the person and very professional. I highly, highly recommend her

Once again I ask myself the question why so many women in games events make me do homework and presentations while all I want to do is share goss with my girl pals. Like I'm going to be able to fix the industry in an evening Worst is they never tell you you got to do work at those events??

Country that named the medical protocol that has been saving trans kids since the 90ties discovers that, yeah, actually, it works? Fuck ideology, fuck science deniers, yay for real indepth research and review
1. In an incredible new landmark review, the Health Council of the Netherlands has declared that gender-affirming care for trans youth works, reducing wait times is "morally urgent," and regret is rare. It is the latest of many Euro countries to advance care. Subscribe to support our journalism.
There's a lot of reasons to feel frustrated about dice rolls, but my personal one is that I don't want to feel forced to save scum to enjoy the game 'optimally' So if you do employ dice rolls you need to make failure just as interesting and rewarding as succeeding.

Five years ago today (it was actually yesterday but who's counting), the very first episode of Neurocracy saw the light of day! To commemorate this occasion, I'm overjoyed to present the first of three new stories on omnipedia.app, coming from @baroness.bsky.social: omnipedia.app/wiki/2049/10...
Unless your random number generator is based on a wall of lava lamps or on the expulsion of an electron from an isotope, you're just playing pretend
All RNG in video games is fake The numbers do what the devs design them to do with the illusion of randomness Virtual dice rolls aren't real
Pleased to announce I'll be doing a talk at AdventureX! I'll be talking about creating transgressive game narratives and what to watch out for It's a subject very dear to my heart and I'm super chuffed they let me do it despite the controversial nature of such games 💜
This year’s schedule and lineup of incredible talks and panels are live! Visit adventurexpo.org for details. Join us at #AdvX26 in London on 7-8 November to hear from @sallybeaumont.bsky.social, @theexaminedgame.bsky.social, and more amazing gaming pros. Keynotes coming soon! Follow for updates
In case you’re wondering why Actual Play (recordings of people playing roleplaying games) hit hard with its core audience, it’s because at its best (and even at its not-so-great) you get to watch people make art, often with a strong attention to character, with chance rather than suits driving plot.
This is horribly satisfying to know because I've been banging on about this for years. I can tell because nothing tracks or is character-based anymore, & I forget about it the moment I stop watching. Characters don't do things because it's who they are anymore. They just...do things. Boringly.
Joannes allowed me to have free reign over the Netherlands 2049 and I had a very good time

SFF, we need to talk. I'm not here to rag specifically on Bona, who did the right thing by going public. No, I'm looking at all of you. Or at least, 15 of you. Because this right here? This is buckwild.
AI fraud nearly derailed our next anthology. Today we’re talking about what went down, the things we missed, and publishing the report we wish we’d had when it happened. Read all about it on our new blog, and download the full report:
All layoffs are a waste of money and lives. But none are so shortsighted as laying off ID engineers. Their engine is the only high fidelity engine performing well on lower end hardware. ...you know, the only affordable kind of hardware in the next few years
I also enjoy them getting rid of the accessibility team when their core audience is aging fast. Logic!
