Bash Back was in attendance: “Stand-up, fight back!” as was the usual omni-cause, with some claiming the trans “genocide” to be comparable to what is happening in Gaza. Sex workers’ rights activists were there too. Chants and slogans proclaimed “trans joy”, and there was a near-constant refrain of “HRT, HRT, over the counter and for free!”

In a statement posted on social media, Bash Back said: “We completely reject the idea that we are a ‘terrorist’ group. We are a non-violent direct action group that demands the total liberation of trans people, and opposes the rising tide of anti-trans bigotry.”

The group said its action guide stated: “We do not condone causing physical harm to any human being”, and added: “We take action to defend ourselves and our community from violence.”

It described Walney’s intervention as “cruel double standards” because it came a day after what it called a right-wing terrorist attack on Berlin Pride. German authorities have said the suspect was an Islamist.

Bash Back said: “Proscription is a tool of control wielded by the ruling class against those who challenge their power.”

Lord Walney (former government advisor on ‘political violence’) has published a Times article calling for BASH BACK to be ‘proscribed’. this would officially designate BASH BACK as a terrorist group
and make it a crime to support us.

We completely reject the idea that we are a "terrorist" group. WE ARE a non-violent direct action group that demands the total liberation of trans people, and opposes the rising tide of anti-trans bigotry.

As our action guide states: “we do not condone causing physical harm to any human being”.

We take action to defend ourselves and our community from violence.

threatening a non-violent group of queer activists with proscription, the day after a horrific right-wing terrorist attack on berlin pride, smacks of cruel double standards.

the british state has encouraged fascist thugs to rampage through the streets, sat back as far-right parties surged in membership and done nothing as muslims, disabled people and queers are subjected to violence and threats by the right.

yet its lackeys like walney roar into action to label bash back as “terrorists” for engaging in non-violent direct action.

proscription is a tool of control wielded by the ruling class against those who challenge their power.

This is deeply worrying and would amount to no less than trying to proscribe trans people for acts of self defence against a regime on the attack.

Zia Yusuf of reform uk says BASH BACK is targeting MPs and threatening violence against them. This is not true and we strongly deny these claims.

BASH BACK is a non-violent direct action group. our Guide explicitly says: "we do not condone causing physical harm to any human being".

By contrast, Reform politicians have repeatedly threatened to unleash extreme violence against migrants, queers, Palestinians, people of colour and disabled people.

We will not take lectures from a bigoted fascist gang who incite far-right street violence, and we will not bend the knee to a party that is brutalising queer communities.

We fight for total trans liberation.
