The 100th country joined team #TPNW today. I’m so proud of the campaign and the work it does to get country after country to ban nuclear weapons, it’s more needed than ever. ICAN and TPNW 4-ever!!! 💕💕💕

🎉🙌Another historic moment for the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons! Tonga has joined the treaty and there are now 100 states parties or signatories! Read more here: www.icanw.org/tonga_brings... #NuclearBan #Milestone

Hi @atomicbell.bsky.social. I saw a strange comment by you in global dispatches where you say that three states are in violation of the TPNW. Can you tell me which ones? And which provisions of the TPNW they are in violation of? It would be great if you could back such drastic claim up with evidence

Bioweapons: what the world got right, and what comes next. In 1975, the world did something remarkable: it banned an entire category of weapons of mass destruction. No biological weapon has been used in war since. But the risks are growing, the technology is changing, and the work is far from over.

i just realized that the npt starts on monday. I didn’t think it was possible to care less about a review conference than I did in 2022 but here we are, i care less. What’s your prediction for the RevCon? No outcome or outcome that says nothing?

Let me be controversial for a minute but all Americans are responsible for this. Your country is the biggest threat to the peace & security of the rest of the world right now. Out of all nations in the world, the US cause the most harm & suffering to people outside its borders now

I’ve recieved many messages today, asking if I think he’ll use nuclear weapons. Someone said “what if today is the last day before nuclear war starts?” And all I can think of is that we don’t actually have to live like this. We don’t have to let anyone have the power to end the world

How does it feel to spend years trying to bring 190 governments to get an agreement and then fail? In the second episode of #SummitTalks, I talk to Ecuadorian ambassador Luis Vayas Valdivieso about his role as chair of the plastic treaty negotiations.

We’re announcing round 2 of our challenging nuclear deterrence grants. We’re looking for creative and innovative projects to be carried out this year and can provide up to 40’000 CHF in funding. You can see the call for proposals here: lexinternational.org/call-for-pro...

So, if French nuclear umbrella is supposed to replace US nuclear umbrella, does that mean we have to believe that France would be more likely to use weapons of mass destruction on civilian populations than United States?

Ahead of Macrons speech today where he will present his case for a European nuclear umbrella, I think it’s good to highlight that the French people think Switzerland, a non nuclear armed, non Nato state, is safer from war than France.

I don't know, maybe it's because I'm a big Carl Sagan fan but I'm super dismayed out how many people these days seem to think that Nuclear Weapons are fine. And not, you know, a completely insane way for us all to live.

Given this week’s news about a conflict between Anthropic & Pentagon over using Claude in all kinds of military operations, this highlights how important it is to get a new treaty on autonomous weapons because we cannot rely on companies doing the right thing. www.newscientist.com/article/2516...

AIs can’t stop recommending nuclear strikes in war game simulations

Leading AIs from OpenAI, Anthropic and Google opted to use nuclear weapons in simulated war games in 95 per cent of cases

How is this guy is even improving my life now? I just want to personally thank every New Yorker who voted for this guy because I’ve been raging about these stupid “resort fees” and mandatory food vouchers and shit for years. ❤️ u mamdani

If you book a hotel for $200, you should pay $200. Today, we shut down hotel junk fees and surprise credit card holds. The price you see is the price you pay.

Sometimes I think about how it is still less than two years ago Sweden joined Nato and then I get embarrassed to be from a country with such incredibly bad geopolitical instinct.

Yesterday we launched Not Dead Yet, our 2025 report on the state of international law. A huge thanks to Austria, Mexico and South Africa for joining our launch event and giving your different perspectives on the narratives and challenges of international law.

Most of the work we do at Lex is quite discrete, like grant making, retreats & off the record conversations and a few different creative projects. But today we’re launching our first public report, “Not Dead Yet — International Law in an Age of Uncertainty”
