well, good news: i found an object of meditation that helps me overcome the hindrance of torpor on the meditation cushion bad news: cultivating equanimity with respect to said object of meditation is SO FUCKING HARD

Finally dropped into the local meditation center that’s been intriguing me today. It might be my sangha? While fighting every which way against torpor through the DEATH meditation, it occurred to me that it was 3 Venus retros in Scorpio ago that I embarked on a year of the same on my lonesome.

fitting to spend a hometown saturday visiting graves, before i head back home. grandmother, great grandparents, my great-grandfather’s parents, my great-great-grandmother’s parents… my 4th great grandfather is just far enough from here i’ll have to make a separate trip to see him.

visiting my grandfolks in my home town and i’ve never hated developers more. the woods i played in are just empty lots of lawn with surveillance lighting. all my thoughts and prayers for these private equity acquisition douchebags are so… unbuddhist

So we fly a pride flag in our front yard in a very conservative neighborhood and it’s been there for the last few years. Someone put this in our mailbox and my goodness…

This Venus Rx has me feeling really quite proud of who I am. Still someone who does what scares me most; still someone who speaks truth to power; and, I guess at my grown age I can add to that: a man who chooses his integrity over comfort or ease. Even when the stakes are high.

as much as i know it’s better for business if i use my handles for marketing copy and dedicated something brand management or whatever (only respect to y’all who can do it) i haven’t been able to stop myself from treating social media like a much less secret livejournal

had a returning client yesterday. opened up the intake to see that actually, i’m consulting with two returning clients who’ve shacked up and want a wedding election. living that practitioner dream!!

heard cicadas for the first time on this trip while talking with dear friends about the muses i had the most heart-opening, time-bending, complexly challenging, magical and awe-inspiring time in chicago! my embrace of the analog and ephemeral means i don’t have many pictures to share but hotdamn!

i hate stressing about timing so tend to get to the airport pretty damn early. just a little over 2 hours until we board

turned the key at the designated minute and the departure chart is charting! only took a few minutes to get through security and other nice things! had my first conference encounter at a seatac gift shop, so it’s officially on. can’t wait to see y’all in chicago!

adhd is so weird sometimes. speaking in 2 weeks-slides are in. can’t be on waiting mode for 2 wks because: responsibilities. so i guess i gotta just keep doing all the more research as if i haven’t turned in my slides? because 2 wks is too long to “take a break” cause adhd blackhole permanance

such a great example of the distinction between the lots of fortune and spirit (and why I said in my lots talk this year that they have to be assessed as a dynamic duo)

I am 90% sure my career wouldn't have happened if a couple people hadn't retweeted one of my stories the exact minute they did. You work your hardest, but it's not in your hands. It breaks a lot of people.

this Saturn distribution *immediately* initiated me into my “find out” era. i’ll miss fuck around food, but yikes! the consequences are so much +++ painful than when venus was running the (admittedly self-indulgent) show. knowing what’s up has made me far less worrycerned (neologism), and… 1/?

between last week’s birthday and the next I’ll deliver three conference talks. recently i’ve been doing a major de-clutter and make-better of my office and found some old vision/mission/goal things feeling very grateful and a little amazed
