Shrek 5 míří na dnešní děti zvyklé na zběsilou akci a blikající barvy. Proti jedničce a dvojce, kde hrdinové pomalu putovali krajinou s minimem akce, je to obrovský skok. Staré díly sázely na atmosféru a dialogy, novinka jede v dravém tempu moderních animáků.
