Warcraft with Blender 3D, watercolors with brushes, cat with a diaper.

Yesterday was all tiny life annoyances like unresponsive customer service, a spilled delivery, a ruined carpet and zero alone time, so at one in the morning I painted relaxing tutorials and found some peace. #watercolor

I got my first #watercolor commission a while ago and this is not it, but I painted this one while taking a break from working on the big, serious project... Having someone trust me to make art for them is always a bit stressful. I love it, it motivates me, but it's still scary.

A spread from my sketchbook, from the middle of May. That's where I paint stuff that's really not my thing, mostly to try out styles and brushstrokes. It was also a MIKAILAN sketchbook of questionable cotton content in its paper, and made painting extra hard and I'm never buying it again. FYI.

This is from last month, when (I think) my 'painting cute animals' wave started. There are days I feel just like this dude, and on those days I'm extra-happy.

Two years ago today we had our first date. It lasted ten hours. I thought 'love of my life' only happens once, but turns out that if you're very lucky it can happen again. Two loves, in what feels like different lifetimes. Here are some #watercolors fairy doors from last week.

Today I'm on a roll and finishing paintings left in the In Progress tray, so here's another happy thing. I'm not sure what they are - species, race, gender - but they look foresty and happy and that makes me happy in turn. #watercolors

I think the reference photo must have been generated with AI, but it was so cute it made my heart sing so I painted it anyway. Also learnt that this surprising color combination works! Phthalo green ( #danielsmith), Greanium Red ( #whitenights), Hansa Yellow Light (Daniel Smith again). I love it!

Bild

It's hard to change 45 years of painting (essentially) D&D characters into something that's simple and just fun to paint! It's searching for a different style that's still my own... it's a bit weird, tbh. Just like this guy. #watercolors

Hobbit shelves - Reginard Took's shelf. Bilbo gifted Reginard's father an umbrella, because Took Senior used to steal umbrellas; So in my head canon, Reginard grew up around umbrellas and enjoyed disassembling them, and maybe became an umbrella-maker to make up for his father's misdeeds...

#watercolors abstract in the style of Kate Rebecca Leach (essoldodesign on Instagram). Painting this yesterday was three hours of near-meditative tranquility; Usually abstract isn't my thing, but her stuff is aesthetic, and just the thing to paint when I want only quiet and to make pretties.

Bild

Cozy items, because painting them makes cozy feelings. Also colorwheels, the best way to see if the colors you imagined work for your image. Spoiler: the original ones I had in mind didn't...

Finally scratched the itch to paint! It was a wonderful night. Painted a few things, this happy tortoise's the latest of them, and I'm almost as happy as he is. Maybe I finally found what's fun for me to paint? Cute animals and stylized people? #watercolor

Got a printer that prints on watercolor paper! No more sketches losing their liveliness, or manual copying, or being afraid I'll need to redraw the whole thing if I mess up. So sketch scanned, red lines digitally removed, drawing printed, happy #watercolor time, and happy me!

Bild

I painted from age nothing to around 37, but I'm a #watercolor noob, and also new to painting just for the fun of it, without trying to be impressive or get a job; so this is one of my many attempts to find things I like painting. Snails. Snails are nice.

Bild

The Physalis Princess happened because I binge every watercolor book I can get, and one said 'paint something until you know it by heart'. It was gooseberries, and the leaves look so much like fairy fabrics that I wanted to try. #watercolor

This morning's sketches, waiting to be scanned, cleaned, then painted with watercolor! I never thought returning to analog drawing would be so much fun!

Bild

The last one for today. I miss feeling like this, when I lived in the tropics, but I'm so happy now I wouldn't give that up for any jungle or beach.

Bild

There's a lot of catching up to do with posting art, so please forgive the post-rain! Starting with my Disney Princess from a few months back. She gives me hope...

Urban sketching isn't likely when I hardly ever get out of the house, so I did it in Lord of the Rigns Online instead; here's a street corner in Umbar Baharbel, the city I've dreamt of for years. Also a bit of Ozymandias-inspired abstract, and a song I love. #watercolor

It's been 10 years of making Warcraft art with Blender 3D, and I still do, but I'm nose-deep in watercolor too because it's relaxing, and because I can be bad at it now that AI can paint better than I ever will. So I'll post a lot of watercolor art, and apologies if I disappoint anyone with this.
