pass the fuck out. don't get up. ever. don't follow unless i know you.

i'd personally describe my taste in old SF as "dykey" but funnily enough the people i find online that are hugely obsessed with the same (almost all women/lesbian) authors as me are predominantly bisexual men... a welcome discovery but it's interesting!

i've been annoyed by people acting like buffy single-handedly invented Long Form Serialized Storytelling On TV since forever but it becomes especially hilarious when you learn about babylon 5 which was years earlier and ACTUALLY doing some pretty unprecedented stuff in that regard...

i'm so grateful that years of needing to be able to read my mother's atrocious handwriting has prepared me for my true calling: reading 50 year old lesbian porno scribbled on yellow legal pad pages

finallyyyyy get to go back to the dorothy allison archives today after being cruelly kept away for 2 months cuz they started closing on saturdays for the summer right as i made my discoveries...

i got to the part halfway through b5 where they CAST OFF their old uniforms and go through a REBIRTH CEREMONY after delenn ALMOST DIES and they all must reveal an UNSAID SECRET and, wait! delenn has got them all new outfits! and then they reveal them and they're ugly. such an im@s moment honestly...

i mentioned delany to my sister (poetry lesbian) and she went "oh yeah, marilyn hacker's husband" and i suddenly felt like a misogynist because as a weird sci-fi lesbian who knows zilch about poetry i mainly know of acclaimed lesbian poet marilyn hacker as "samuel delany's wife"... i'm sorry women

ranka was telling me they're gonna try to get their friend who reads a ton of isekai into ASH because when you think about it, ash DOES have an isekai-esque cheat skill (can get relevant tactical advice from the art of war beamed into her brain on command)

got so excited by the mary gentle discussion on the lastest critical friends... that's what i've been fucking sayinggg my bestie has been slowly reading their way through ASH: A Secret History and it's been delightful to finally get to discuss that crazyass book THAT NO ONE TALKS ABOUT ANYMORE...

you know the part in simoun where dominura looks into the simoun and (implicitly) sees all that was/will be wrought and goes catatonic? that's how i felt last night reading jack vance's first dying earth story and it slowly dawning on me that this was where DND magic system bullshit got taken from

i have a fondness for even most jankier aspects of 90s graphic design but this may be the ugliest cover... ever? someone went fuck it's science fiction essays and i don't have any space assets okayyy big circle for planet and uh, some squares ah well... i can finally learn if "smashing" is erotic...

this podcast is incredible... my non-SF fiction interests/background are very different from his but i love all the thought he puts into talking about weird obscure SF(?) books (so happy finding someone else who actually goes and reads criticism from the time like i do!) www.patreon.com/cw/SFULTRA

me and ranka just watched the commus for this on call and they're literally done like a "your mom and dad have sold you to the 283 mafia to avoid paying off their debts" otome game...

went to my fav used everything store to check if they had any new cherryh paperbacks in and lo and behold there was a gate of ivrel! feels sorta special finding her debut soon after she announced her retirement... 🥹 (i have the omnibus already 🤫 but it's fun to have the OG michael whelan cover/art)

last night i discovered this rare!? joanna russ interview from 2007, a few years before she died and after she'd become a semi recluse, where she let two young academics into her home to interview her about slash and THEY BROUGHT HER PRINTED OUT SMALLVILLE YAOI TO READ jprstudies.org/wp-content/u...

so funny that i've started checking facebook daily for the first time in a decade to... look at [acclaimed sci-fi author] c. j. cherryh's good posts... it's always just stuff about crafting, gardening/DIY, cooking, science/history fun facts, and top tier #WifePosting plzzz let that be me when i'm 83

this (totally official! not bootleg!) pochacco masking tape i have spells it as pachacca in some places and i kinda love it. pachacca... that's what we used to call her in bella napoli...

ranka sent this to me LAST easter but didn't post it and i thought it would never see the light of day but i see now, that they were simply waiting until it was easter again... 🥹 so happy everyone else gets to experience it now as well!!! 🐰🐇👯‍♀️🐺🦊🦾

New fic SUNDAY?! Why not celebrate Easter with what the season's all about - silly Girls' Frontline f/f smut where Ange, for once in her life, actually has something good happen to her?! (Said good thing is RPK-16 having herself and AK-12 wear bunny suits, natch.) archiveofourown.org/works/82552011

funny experience of being like grrr there's all this recent popular queer SFF that's heavily influenced by cherryh but none of it seems to be doing the specific cherryh stuff i'm into 😠 and then realizing there IS a series of books doing exactly that, they're just books i've already read and loved

david k. stone's wrap-around cover illustrations for the initial hardcovers of cherryh's faded sun trilogy are sooo crazy good... the second one is my favorite the watercolor and stylization give them a mythic quality that suit the books really well
