Lions CB Ennis Rakestraw Jr. left practice early to be evaluated for a lower leg injury.

Lions TE Sam LaPorta (hip) is going to get some rest and let that calm down for now, per Campbell. He feels like they'll be OK for Week 1, but they don't know.

Lions OG Ben Bartch is in concussion protocol, per Dan Campbell. With Juice Scruggs working at center, it's even all the more likely it's Christian Mahogany at LG.

Lions QB Josh Dobbs will start on Saturday vs the Commanders. Haven't seen much from him yet. Jared Goff will not play. Dobbs and Altmyer will spilt all of the snaps.

Asked Dan Campbell about Tate Ratledge's usage at center on Sunday, said Juice Scruggs' reps are capped, but that "one way or another" Tate needs to be ready to help at center, even if just as an emergency game-day fill-in. Ratlege will likely stick at RG tonight, with McLaughlin and Juice at C

Dan Campbell doesn't expect Jameson Williams (shoulder), Nick Whiteside (hamstring) or Ben Bartch to practice tonight. Doesn't sound too concerned, saying it's not serious.

A lot of Tate Ratledge at center today in practice. He and Juice Scruggs rotated to start practice, then Ratledge took the majority of the reps in full-team drills to end practice. It didn't just rain at practice today. It was a downpour for about 20-25 minutes.

Jacob Saylors is dealing with an ankle injury, might need a couple days. Fellow RB Kye Robichaux might have broken a bone in his foot, per Dan Campbell.

Lions will start working rookie EDGE Derrick Moore and RB Sione Vaki back more and more sounds like, and hopefully CB DJ Reed, as well. Campbell said they're about to start getting a lot of guys back at practice.
