You and I both know the answer, and it’s unfortunately bc the American polity is insanely racist

Are politicians ever asked about their commitment to Muslim safety in their communities?
El-Sayed: "My commitment to Jewish safety is the same commitment that I have to the safety of my own daughters. Because if there is one question of political philosophy that ought to animate us all, it's what would we do if we treated all our kids like they were all of our kids?"
If AIPAC's commitment to arming a rogue state isn't enough for you, I cannot emphasize enough that this organization is just a slush fund for GOP donors to influence Dem races. Their donor base is mostly conservatives who want Republicans to win.
AIPAC: "Our members remain determined to ensure that voters reject Dr. El-Sayed and his radical anti-Israel agenda in November."
Who asked for an "AI tells detection" tool for ESPN's World Series of Poker broadcast? And is the tool a simple party trick, or yet another way for AI to invade an inherently human pursuit? My latest for @wired.com: www.wired.com/story/ai-tel...
Is This Poker Player Bluffing? The AI Thinks So
ESPN unveiled an “AI tells detection” tool during broadcasts of the 2026 World Series of Poker. Is it a neat computer-powered party trick, or a real threat to poker’s future?

It’s the tiniest of baby steps, but it’s still nice to know that there’s *some* limit to what unlimited AIPAC money can buy you in American politics
Unfathomable
Humorous to me how, when a Dem candidate is a centrist, the narrative is about how leftists have to grow up and support them. When the candidate is a leftist, the question is whether they can rally adequate support. So some people are responsible for running a winning campaign, you say? Interesting.
I've tested several "AI detection" tools for my day job. Can confirm: All bullshit.
"A.i." is bullshit. "A.i." detection tools are bullshit. "A.i." in education is bullshit. "A.i." in the arts is bullshit. "A.i." in business and government is bullshit.
From today:

Our tax dollars funded this. If that doesn’t bug you then you’re weird
NEW: Israel has imprisoned an American teen. Soldiers raided Adam's West Bank home right before his sister’s grad party. They ignored his US passport. As they took him, they blew kisses at his mom. Adam is now the second American in Israeli prison. Trump just hosted Netanyahu for the eighth time.
It’s true. Everyone in sports hates concussion protocols. Modern tech might have an answer. From my recent feature on eye tracking: www.espn.com/casualgames/...
Concussion protocols are a sham: defector.com/concussion-p...

Yeah man, god forbid American tax dollars go to something that doesn't personally impact them
Opinion: Mamdani's idea may sound appealing, but it's NYC taxpayers who will take the hit, subsidizing discounts they may never even use.
Shutter Island doesn't get enough love in Scorsese discussions. It's so good
At the rawest level, it's so lame that we've created a social construct where no one in that room is willing to tell him to get fucked
Trump says Jeanine Pirro "choked" and then snaps at a reporter who asks if her job is safe: "Don't ever talk again"
Bluesky is a "liberal bubble" because fascist chuds can't get traction without algorithmic assistance and because people here trained themselves to block "debate me" trybois the instant they roll up
Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."
The effective federal corporate income tax rate: 1950: 50% 1990: 25% 2020: 13% Stop asking "but how we will pay for it?" Restore the corporate tax rate. That is how we will pay for it.
If the choice is "my daughter might face a disadvantage while playing sports" vs "my daughter must undergo a genital inspection by a stranger to play sports" ...that's not a hard decision
The Lynx/WNBA do not have to allow this. They don't have to let this bigot spend time courtside. But they are, and that's a choice.
riley gaines is at the minnesota lynx vs indiana fever game posing with people courtside as they line up for photos
Israel is the greatest threat that currently exists to world peace
100% correct. It's a glaring problem for many franchises - and a huge advantage for the select few that do the work to integrate departments. Here's what I wrote in my "Hacking the Jumper" article a couple months ago (defector.com/can-the-jump...):
I think there's a misunderstanding about how much communication occurs between a team's sports science staff and front office/coaches/player dev/athletes/etc. I've spoken to multiple sports scientists for multiple teams in multiple leagues. It's a lot less than you'd think, on average.
This is some of the most disgusting victim blaming I've ever seen, and the fact that a huge % of this country will accept it as a legit excuse is disheartening beyond belief
Rep. Max Miller: "My former wife has claimed that during a custody exchange at my home that day, I assaulted her…If I had assaulted her, would she have offered to cook me dinner six days later?"
Rest of MLB should be embarrassed at how the Dodgers run circles around them. Especially all the other big $ teams. You could all be doing the same thing. They’re putting you to shame.
It's insane how lenient the USA is with intoxicated driving. Over 10,000 people die EVERY YEAR from it in this country. And yet it's a slap on the wrist crime that *might not even get you fired from your highly public job.* We need to shame and punish this behavior out of society.
Reminder that if Hamas actually bombed a synagogue in Israel, it would lead the news for multiple days. Israel would demand (and receive) billions more dollars in US tax support in response. But it's just the IDF. Move on with your day
Hamas violates the ceasefire and bombs a synagogue in the middle of Israel today. If you’re wondering why that didn’t make the news, it’s because it’s actually the IDF bombing yet another mosque in the center of Gaza City.
Look, it's possible to stand up to money-grubbing rich people through collective action! Something we wouldn't know anything about in this country.
UEFA has just unanimously decided to boycott both men's and women's World Cups over FIFA's attempt to sell the global game to private equity. Damn.
It’s literally impossible to have “good faith concerns” about an issue that does not exist. “Trans people are damaging women’s sports” is a fake issue. Simple data proves it. It doesn’t exist. By definition, you cannot support it “in good faith.”
enough of this shit
i don't believe anyone has "good-faith" concerns about trans women in sports in 2026. there's been too much time to hear the actual evidence, the actual people affected, and the role the debate plays in attempts to purge trans people from American life. anybody picking that side has made a choice
enough of this shit
If “Blue No Matter WHO” folks actually believed their own message, they’d be throwing support behind El-Sayed as the clear favorite in a vital race. But they aren’t doing that. Wonder why!
Highest quality poll to date has Abdul El-Sayed up 15 points
