1/ My stay in Paris marks the end of my summer of research in Europe. It was great to return to my favorite research spots: the libraries of my universities— @normalesup.bsky.social and @sorbonneparis1.bsky.social — @labnf.bsky.social and the Archives Nationales. Now it’s time to focus on writing!

1/ It felt especially fitting to be in Paris for Marc Bloch’s induction into the Panthéon. Last spring I taught 20th-century Europe, and my students and I read Bloch’s "Strange Defeat." It was deeply moving to see him join the ranks of other famous Resistance members.

1/ Time to celebrate my second month of research and writing in Italy with a few pictures of one of my favorite archives, the #ArchivioCentraledelloStato in Rome. It feels especially fitting to research Fascism here…

After two stimulating panels, we are listening to Igiaba Scego’s keynote. A prominent Italian author of Somali heritage, her work directly confronts fascism’s enduring legacy—a very fitting ending for the first day of our workshop on “Teaching Anti-Fascism Today” at @ilcs.bsky.social.

“Teaching Anti-Fascism Today” at @ilcs.bsky.social is off to a great start with Paz Guevara’s keynote. She describes the “Global Fascisms Exhibition,” which presented fascism not only as a historical phenomenon but as an ongoing global threat that transcends its historically confined definition.
