I keep meeting smart informed Albertans who tell me they do not intend to vote, because they don’t want to legitimize the process, or because they know the premier is not bound by the results. But what if making us give up on voting is the whole point? My argument to vote - no matter the absurdity.

About the Greenland deal. It's a minor victory for Trump, in that the American presence there is no longer tied to NATO and is agreed to by the Greenland government, which would survive independence. That said the US is viewed less as a friend and more as a predator, now. So that's a cost.

This is the part many Americans -- including the Bezosites at the Washington Post -- don't understand. Canadians don't see this just as a Trump thing. It's that America elected him twice, and the second time with an even bigger mandate. The problem we're addressing is America, not Trump.

Watched the last portion of Carney’s speech, where he goes through what “associate membership” would entail. He seems quite ambitious. The Canadian press needs to stop believing nameless Canadian government people talking down what’s planned.

So I was chatting with a college mate whom I also went to grad school with (both universities Stateside), and talking about the EU “associate member” proposal. His $0.02? “You know that once Trump is gone, almost all Americans will be fine going back to the older arrangements, right?”
