I visited the site of the Nuremberg Trials this week. Given the horrors they responded to, it's of course been difficult. At the same time, it has been reassuring. The trials show that it is possible to build international institutions that advance the cause of justice.
The rules-based #order is not doomed to fail – its fate rests with #middlepowers who can fill the gap left by the #US under #Trump! 📖 This is a key takeaway from my book, "After Exit: US withdrawal and alternative leadership," which is now under contract with Oxford University Press #OUP!

The @ecpr.bsky.social Joint Sessions are always an intellectual highlight. This year I co-organised the workshop “Global Governance in Times of Disruption” with @yoramhaftel.bsky.social. Incredibly rewarding. Global governance is under pressure, but research in the field has never been stronger.
A fantastic week in Brussels leading a study trip with our postgraduate IR students. Great to see them engaging directly with EU policymakers and gaining first-hand insights into decision-making, alongside thought-provoking perspectives from the FES. Many thanks to all our speakers for their time.
