Re-watched NWR’s Neon Demon last night- It’s hard for me to recommend Refn flicks mostly because (IMO) misanthropy plays such an integral part in the stories he’s drawn to. But his shots are beautiful (and he stays on em forever!) and the sound and visual design is mesmerizing.

I’ve not had the pleasure of familiarizing myself with Neal Adams’ Samuree (the Mistress of the Martial Arts), but did misread the text as "movies” and had a brief, beautiful vision of a comic about a disgruntled, gatekeeping ninja working at Blockbuster Video.

While I like the more lithe Batman from the early stories, Sprang really changed the game when he started drawing the character with a more stylized, super-hero build which influenced the character’s depiction across mediums. The first thicc daddy Batman 80 years before Absolute did it!

Mortal Kombat 2 was about as fun/dumb as I expected, but I give the film credit for rushing through the clunky plot as quickly as possible to get to the fights. It suffers from some late stage MCU-isms, but throws so many characters, game levels, and fatalities at you to keep things chugging along.
