From 31 years ago today: Ticket stub from game 2,129 of Cal Ripken Jr.'s streak. One of my earliest childhood memories is being at this game with my dad, his father, and older brother.

Orioles manager Craig Albernaz said, "We're not going to ambush [Luis De León] and throw him in the fire right away." He then threw him in for his MLB debut in a 2-2 game in the 7th. (He took the loss.) And for his 2nd appearance, a 3-3 game in the 8th. (He's on the hook for the loss.)

I have no idea how busy your life is as Pope, but the Pope is watching every White Sox game this year, right? You can tell from his smile that he's trying not to look too excited because, I guess, this is kinda sacrilegious, but he's pumped to have this hat.

With Pete Alonso as the DH for the Orioles today, the first question for manager Craig Albarnez pregame from beat reporters: "Alonso DHing. Is that to 'get him off his feet. Obviously, he was dealing with his calf, so there was no point to push him there,' right?"

Mets announce that Mrs. Met, who made her debut on Opening Day in 1975, has been elected to the Mascot Hall of Fame, becoming the first female mascot to ever earn that distinction.

"Oh, I’ll be back this season; I don’t know why I wouldn’t be,” Yankees' Aaron Judge said today. “That was always the plan to come back sooner than later, definitely. “But I never had a thought of not playing [again] this year.”

With George Lombard Jr., 26th overall in 2023 MLB Draft, homering in his MLB Debut at age 21 last night for Yankees, decided to look at Orioles picks from first three rounds in 2023 and 2024 drafts to see where folks are and meh.

Baseball is just such a fundamentally different game than it used to be. Like, what do you mean 1974 NL Cy Young Award winner Mike Marshall pitched 208.1 innings over 106 games out of the Dodgers' bullpen? LA hasn't had a starter throw that many innings in 11 years.
