Since many of my maker's notes are in physical notebooks, a lot of what I do is to make it easier to study from physical media. This is a short example of what it looks like to study from one. #flashcards #studytips #iosapps #notebooks

🚀 1.12.0 is out - Now your flashcards can contain LaTeX equations (Advanced Learner). And many other things since we last posted here: 1. Annotate screenshots on Mac to study them 2. Hide or annotate irregular areas of images 3. Study maps and mind palace pics with emoji pins and arrows #studytips
🆕 New Home Screen List Widget: view cards available to study in your favorite lists, start studies and create cards in them. They match your color theme choice of the app as well. Alongside the Today widget, they are great to create a little study dashboard in your Home Screen. #studytips #iosapps
💡Shortcuts in Benkyo Box are extremely useful but it can be hard to figure out how to use them. Here’s some ideas and examples to get you started: www.reddit.com/r/studytips/... #AppleShortcuts #Shortcuts #iosapps #studytips

🚀 Benkyo Box 1.5.10 is out now in the AppStore with: - Import study cards from Anki (export coming up next) - Revamped the Import UI, which now shows a preview of the contents being imported before you do import it. - Fix for music playback stopping in the study view - Fix iPad windows not resizing
🧪 Now in beta builds is our first update of the year: 1.5.10 brings importing decks from Anki (.apkg files) Simple, reversed, and "Cloze" (fill-in-the-blanks) templates are supported. Of course, a #Shortcuts action was added for this. Lots of little and not-so-little fixes as UI cleanup as well!
New Advanced Learner feature: Extract #flashcards from text or urls. It uses #AppleIntelligence to extract cards from content, so your cards stays local and private. We are still improving it, but it's already a great way to get started with a deck!
Shortcut actions for Benkyo Box is now out in the AppStore, version 1.5.5 🚀. I also wrote some things I learned while working with the AppIntents framework, in case it's useful to someone: www.autorelease.io/benkyobox/bl... #iosdev #shortcuts

🎴Adding multi-select previews and better multi-actions in the next beta build (macOS and iPad)
💻 An early beta of Benkyo Box for macOS (1.5.0) is available for beta testing - lots of kinks to iron out but it’s starting to take shape! Feel free to download it in TestFlight: testflight.apple.com/join/jZXFDA46 It’s more solid in macOS 26, less so in 15, but we’ll get there. #flashcards
Our developer took a short vacation, took notes in the #ComputerHistoryMuseum, then realized we didn't have an obvious feature: a notification badge with the number of remaining studies. Notification badges available in the upcoming 1.4.5 release (in review) 🔔
1.5.0 is out in beta with the new #liquidglass ui. Enjoy! testflight.apple.com/join/jZXFDA46 It’s still with the old icon due to some last minute issues, but a new one should be coming in a later beta.

Quick preview of Benkyo Box Mac version (pre-Tahoe). We customized the Study View specifically for Mac using trackpad gestures and plain ol' buttons.
It's unfortunate that #SwiftUI doesn't have a "trackpad pan gesture". DragGesture is the closest, but requires clicking to drag. Made this one with an overlay for #BenkyoBox study view (shown here in pre-Tahoe UI).
Some of you import #flashcards from CSVs that have more than 1 column that is relevant to the question/answer, for example: The hiragana in one column, definition in the other. Next update will allow you to select more than 1 column (see the video to see how it works). #BenkyoBox
I am aware that 1.3.2 broke image annotation creation. 1.3.3 is in review with a fix. Sorry for that!
Took a break from our upcoming liquid glass 🫧 and macOS update to ship a few fixes in 1.3.2: 1. Home Screen Stats widget now correctly updates 2. The study scoring control has been refined to be easier to interact with 3. Lists are more data dense 4. Other smaller refinements apple.co/42QuGt6

Noticed that people get confused and frustrated when they slide inside the gauge arc, and it doenst work. So l extended the gauge segments with some hidden shapes, shown here with debug backgrounds. Claude was super helpful for drawing the pie shapes.
