Deputy Leader of Sheffield Labour🌹 | Chair of Economic Development, Skills and Culture | Councillor for Park and Arbourthorne

🏳️‍🌈 16,000 people attended Kelham Pride this year – the biggest event in its history. While Reform UK councils elsewhere cut support for Pride, Sheffield Labour will continue backing Kelham Pride. We’re proud to support a welcoming, diverse and inclusive Sheffield where everyone belongs. 🏳️‍⚧️❤️

The old Salvation Army Citadel is looking fantastic, brought to life with striking new street art 🎨 Now in council ownership, it’s been secured to protect its heritage and support regeneration. Artwork by Luke Passey, with thanks to Bridget Ingle and Friends of Sheffield City Centre.

With the cost of seeing Santa now an arm and a leg, we wanted to make sure children and families in Arbourthorne and Norfolk Park still had the chance to celebrate this Christmas. Thanks to everyone who joined us at our Northern Avenue event 🎄

Big decisions to make Sheffield better: 🚃 Quicker journeys in and out of the city centre, tackling congestion and creating thriving streets. 🔌 More EV chargers. 🚸 Safer crossings in Castlegate ahead of a new park. 🚲🚶Funding schools so more children walk & cycle.

Eagle-eyed visitors may have seen Kid Acne’s great new artwork on the Coles Car Park ramp taking shape. Thanks to Bridget Ingle and Friends of Sheff City Centre. It’s helping make the area even better as we look ahead to the wider transformation by Urban Splash and the Council

People tell me on the doorstep how important reopening DSA is. This week South Yorkshire leaders backed its return ✈️ — creating jobs and opportunities, building on Sheffield’s leadership in sustainable aviation research, and making sure it has strong public transport links

Quite the backdrop today — an aircraft hangar in front of a Vulcan bomber — for the South Yorkshire MCA meeting chaired by Oliver Coppard with leaders including cllr Tom Hunt taking a big step towards reopening Doncaster Sheffield Airport

🐟 For the first time in 200 years, salmon are breeding in the River Don! Thanks to our brilliant Flood & Water team who delivered the fish pass at Sanderson’s Weir — a milestone partners across the region have worked towards for two decades

We’re making a real difference in Sheffield—especially for the most vulnerable—by improving air quality. Since introducing our Clean Air Zone (which doesn’t charge private cars), pollution has dropped & more people and businesses are switching to cleaner vehicles www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

Calls to clean up England’s ‘toxic air’ as GP visits for asthma attacks rise 45%

Exclusive: Doctors say clean air zones need expanding, after 45,458 visits in first half of this year – up from 31,376 last year

Great to visit our Urban Traffic Control Centre team in the Town Hall — the nerve centre keeping Sheffield moving. Congestion could cost the UK £21bn a year by 2030. Tackling it is all part of our plan for quicker public transport, fewer delays and a better-connected city

🐾 Dogs like Gem deserve clean rivers — and so do we. Labour’s new Water Act is now in force, banning exec bonuses at water firms like Yorkshire Water when they pollute our rivers or break the law. A government on our side here in Sheffield, cleaning up our rivers.

🚍🚊 £1.5bn for South Yorkshire’s public transport from the Labour government — better buses, new trams, upgraded stops & a greener, joined-up network. As we prepare to take buses into public control in 2027, this is the investment we’ve waited for — with a government on our side

Great to join Cycle Sheffield’s Big Ride 2025 with Cllr Elle Dodd— a brilliant, family-friendly event. More people are cycling in our city, using new protected cycle lanes and people-friendly streets, cutting congestion and boosting health and wellbeing
