U.S. Senator for Colorado

Happy 150th birthday, Colorado! Let's celebrate everything that makes this state the best in America: our mountains, our public lands, and the Coloradans who call it home.

Today’s announcement is the bare minimum. I will continue fighting for a durable, long-term solution that brings certainty to the Colorado River. Read my full statement on the Bureau of Reclamation’s short-term plan for operating the Colorado River ⬇️

Today is the 61st anniversary of President Johnson signing Medicare and Medicaid into law. Decades later, these two vital programs remain a lifeline for 2.3 million Coloradans.

The Trump Administration’s latest asylum rule undermines due process and turns its back on people fleeing persecution. America is strongest when we uphold our laws and values. We cannot deny vulnerable people a fair chance to seek protection guaranteed under U.S. law. thehill.com/policy/natio...

New rule could speed deportation of asylum seekers

Starting Tuesday, the Trump administration will cut off asylum seekers’ access to an interview to weigh their claims, instead allowing officers to funnel migrants into immigration court for deporta…

Good to see President Zelenskyy again yesterday. As Putin stalls at the negotiating table and keeps striking Ukraine, I’m pleased the Senate advanced our bipartisan Russia sanctions bill 86-12.

Our bipartisan sanctions bill will impose greater pressure on Putin to end his unprovoked war, especially as Ukraine seizes the momentum and increasingly takes the fight to Moscow. I am pleased to see the Senate take the first step today to get this done.

Last week, the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation voted to radically alter the National Historic Preservation Act, undermining Tribal sovereignty and the federal government's trust responsibility to Tribal Nations.

Colorado has lost another firefighter. Five lives have now been taken by this relentless fire season. Our hearts are with every family, every crew, and every community carrying this unimaginable loss. We will never take their service and sacrifice for granted.

A private company wants to nearly triple the size of its gravel quarry outside Glenwood, putting our hot springs at risk. We're glad to work with the Glenwood Springs community to introduce legislation that would block this expansion. www.westword.com/news/sen-ben...

Bennet and Hurd team up to shield Glenwood Springs Hot Springs from quarry expansion

A companion bill is going to Congress to help block mining expansion in Glenwood Springs that could affect the hot springs.

I'm standing with the Glenwood Springs community to fight against renewed gravel mining threats to the Glenwood Hot Springs. Risking this one-of-a-kind resource is shortsighted and irresponsible.

President Trump isn't standing up for farmers and ranchers, he's selling them out with his incoherent trade war. His failed trade policy has punished our producers and threatened America's global leadership in agriculture.

Equal pay for equal work shouldn't be a radical idea, but today Black women earn just 65 cents for every dollar paid to their white male counterparts. That pay gap follows women through their entire careers, and the lost income means a lack of financial security for their families too.

Today, we remember the 12 innocent lives taken in a senseless act of gun violence at a movie theater in Aurora. As we honor their memory, we must keep fighting for an America that no longer tolerates inaction. sentinelcolorado.com/metro/aurora...

It is unacceptable that an ICE contractor shot a protester in Aurora last night. This incident demands a full accounting. It is also another reminder that ICE needs an overhaul and a change in leadership from the top down. We cannot allow this violence to become the new normal.
