The Conversation is the most 1974 a movie could ever be. This is a compliment.
(eliza)Beth!

Fix your hearts or die. Middle aged and slightly awkward in Manhattan. She/her
Starting my 8 day run of three movies with the Conversation in an hour, then Atomic Blonde on Thursday and the centerpiece, Lawrence of goddamn Arabia next Sunday.
Hey, a couple weeks ago I was mistaken for an ultra Orthodox Jewish woman für to my headscarf and got end times prophecy preached at me.
You know...not every problem needs to be...oh, never mind.
I remember watching this in reruns as a kid, and “that my kind of woman!” line from Animal has been burned into my brain ever since. Also, damn, love that dress.
Found this recording of Rita Moreno performing “Fever” on The Muppet Show from 1976. 14/10
My mom called and we had a decently pleasant call, then at the end she said “I love you <deadname> - sorry, I mean Beth”, which is the first time she’s actually called me by my name. Huh, maybe the therapist is actually helping.
This Chinatown eyewear/optometrist doesn't seem to care about my gender presentation, but they sure are befuddled by the concept of preferred names.
if you’re cis you have to read this. if you don’t you’re a bad person. yes i am speaking to you, person considering scrolling. mark. im talking to you mark. tuck in your shirt and read the piece dipshit
I wrote about how angry I feel watching people write columns about trans women in sports.
I fulfilled my obligations and represented Oberlin dropouts at karaoke (I did Liz Phair).
Well, that was a hell of a night. Worth the arduous travel. Thank you, @antlervel.vet, @katie.bzky.team, @angelic.style et al!
If I struggle through this rain-induced subway apocalypse only to get to Mr Nancy’s and discover karaoke night has been canceled, I will be very annoyed.
I quite like the Petra Parker bit but if this is gonna continue please, remember the hyphen in Spider-Man.
Just had a moment of clarity remembering how I kept apologizing for not explaining myself clearly in a meeting this morning and realizing that I _always_ am apologizing to male coworkers for them not understanding what I mean.
Killing time while the Spectrum tech fixes a loose connection in the box and replaces my modem by going full Reply Girl.
Love that my never very good Spectrum non-fiber service has been flaking out like mad for the past couple weeks and it’s nearly impossible to just get a human on the line to report the issue.
How am I so consistently unable to _not_ get mopey every damned Sunday specifically?
The actually kinda interesting counterfactual re Imperial Japan isn't wait for them to surrender, or Operation Downfall's massive invasion, imo - it's letting the effective submarine blockade of the Home Islands ramp up even further and literally starve Japan out.
OK, listen up, cat. I've got the door to my bedroom closed, ear plugs in, and a band around my head to keep the ear plugs from falling out, so I _am_ sleeping later than 6am tomorrow. You shall not wake me with your crack of dawn yelling this time!
Well, that was a fun as hell three plus hours of historical revisionist (in a good way) discussion in a giant messy thread and spinoff. Bed time!
Of course my most noticed run of posts here were gonna be a series of replies on WW2 and a sub thread on Tito.
Thank you, @goose.ski, for providing me a venue to unleash my semi-qualified Historical Knowledge and Opinions tonight.
Ditched work early, walked towards home, got tempted by skirts at Aritzia, splurged and bought two, and am now taking advantage of my MoMA membership to spend some time staring at my favorite painting here. I feel so New York Lady right now.
I have Thoughts and Opinions on the eternal "do you want to be cis" discourse and I am not saying any of it because I prefer to not be in The Discourse.
Trying to persuade my ex girlfriend from 20 years ago that she had a lesbian phase with a confused straight girl.
I remember the time when every shoe I owned fit me comfortably, and I don't miss those dumbass sneakers at all. If my shoes aren't a bit uncomfortable, they can't possibly look good.
Raise your hand if you just bought Liz Phair/Sleater Kinney tickets for yourself and your ex girlfriend from 20+ years ago...oh, it's just me? =)
My mom just tried to ask me how my transition is going, which is awkward enough in the first place, but she stumbled into it by specifically asking how I’m doing physically, so it felt like she was asking what my cup size is.
Well, turns out getting dressed properly and made up even if I’m not going anywhere on a weekend day dies turn out to be helpful.
Not a great start to a weekend, which often gets me mopey and lightly dysphoric but this time includes bonus not shaving for electro, that I'm already having a bit of a sad spell. Ah well.
