Queensland Rail is putting a major frequency reduction in place from Tuesday the 5th of May until further notice, which will see peak train trips heavily reduced. BTQ understands that this is due to recent industrial action resulting in a backlog of trains which require servicing.

We were ABC News Brisbane this morning talking about 50c fares and fare evasion. It's worth adding one more graph to the conversation: infringements issued per inspection performed. What this suggests is that fare evasion has dropped significantly since mid 2024. 1/2

Better Transport Queensland welcomes the opening of Pimpama Station on the Gold Coast Line this morning; the first new station to serve the Gold Coast since 2009. This milestone marks a significant step forward in the delivery of the Cross River Rail project.

BTQ and its members are concerned about how Brisbane and the wider SEQ public transport network will prepare for the Brisbane 2032 Olympics. BTQ recommends the following changes to the Queensland Minister for Transport and Main Roads, Brent Mickelberg MP:

Not sure I can agree with bicycles on GCLR. It’s often far too crowded. It’s also pretty slow, so you could probably ride your bike at around the same speed. Most of the route is rather flat, too.
