I couldn’t resist another visit to RSPB Blacktoft Sands before visiting a dear friend today. I was hoping to get a closer look at the Spoonbills and I think I managed it! #UKBirding

Spoonbills stole the show at Gibraltar Point today on an extremely windy visit. Two Great White Egrets were determined not to be upstaged #UKBirding

An early visit to RSPB Frampton Marsh gave me views of two Black-winged Stilts, Blackwits, Ruffs, LRPs and more. Large areas of the reserve are bone dry now, which means the birds are concentrated around the areas where there is still water#UKBirding

I bid a fond farewell to Northumberland today, but not before visiting Hauxley Nature Reserve. Incredibly windy, but worth it for the Dunlin alone. Living in the West Midlands, I don’t often get the chance to get so close to those delightful little waders #UKBirding

Today was a four Tern day… a visit to Coquet Island from Amble gave me Common Sandwich, Artic and my first ever Roseate Terns. Lots of Grey Seals too and lots of sunshine #UKBirding

Lovely first day of my holiday, visiting RSPB Blacktoft Sands, where Egret and Bearded Tits were present in large numbers. Missed the best of the Spoonbills and just saw one distant bird, but there were Blackwits, Common Redshank, Spotted Redshank, Greenshank, Ruff and more.

I spent a few hours in Meadow hide at Severn Valley Country Park this morning. Kingfisher only made a brief appearance, but the hope it would return and some good conversation kept me there until I had to go to work. A very pleasant way to spend a morning off #UKBirding

Exhausted after a monster working week, I only had the energy to sit in a hide so I checked out the reflection pool at Severn Valley Country Park and saw these beauties. No sign of any Kingfishers today #UKBirding

I visited Earlswood Lakes this morning to see my first ever Spotted Sandpiper. It didn’t come close while I was there, but still lovely to tick off a lifer #UKBirding

I was surprised to see a Moorhen steal an egg from a Lapwing nest at RSPB Sandwell Valley this morning. There was a lovely family of Canada Geese though, with eight goslings.
