My second feature piece for WAVES magezine, the English language magazine for Eastern China. It's me going off on "hey! Try playing some indie games!". Out now! I had a very limited word count but I begged for at least a collage page to show off some indie games I've played or are excited for!

With regards to that last repost, reviews can mean a lot to smaller developers, so I'm gonna put out a little call to action. Everyone following me? DO THIS NOW! I'm asking for replies so more folks pick this up, and continue it. Please take this graphic and ask your followers to do the same!

"Goto your Steam™ library

Leave a review for a smaller game you like

Now tell me what it was"

There's a very crudely drawn Steam logo in the middle. In the bottom right, there's an even crudely-er drawn frog, and the sideways text reads "I am a graphic design terrorist"

9 games that made me who I am! 🤙 my9games.com Not all my favorites, but the ones that shaped my genre tastes the most, though there's plenty missing. Remade it 3 times, and if I don't post this right now I'll do it a fourth... Rambling on alt text!

Metroid Prime 3: First metroidvania, my top genre. Even if it's not as beloved as other Metroids, and I prefer 2, I still have a lot of love for it.

Cave Story: What got me into indie games and my favorite indie for a long time. Taught me that a single person can actually make a whole game and be great.

Jak 1: My first game period, at least I'm pretty sure. Still love platformers thanks to it, though I prefer Jak 3.

Ever17: The definition of visual novel can be very subjective, but I consider it my first pure VN and the one that made me fall in love with the genre.

Ace Attorney 1: Long story short, I would NOT be who I am today without it.

Shadow of the colossus: In a way, this was my Ocarina of Time.

Bloodborne: First soulslike. Made me appreciate difficulty in games more.

Dicey dungeons: First roguelike. Slay the spire was what really got me addicted to this drug, but this was the first step and I still played it a lot.

Kingdom Hearts 2: The first RPG that I really loved and that made me interested in Final Fantasy, which then lead to Dissidia, which I would've included if there was more space.

9 games that made me who I am! 🤙 my9games.com Don't like this type of lists because I have to leave out so many, like, didn't include any survival horror or metroidvania... 😞

The other day I finally played The Red Strings Club (great short game, highly recommend it) after our game's co-creator told me about it many years ago, and uh...I think there was some subconscious influence when he came up with Cocktail, especially cause he did his OG sketch lol

Lime: ¡Hola, face and cola!
