Mostly photos of things, mostly from around the Glasgow area.

An Osprey over the Clyde this afternoon. I looked upriver from Parklea and saw a guy fishing at the Finlaystone burn and assumed that meant there would be no birds around there. When i looked again I realised the Osprey was sitting very near him on top of a post. #birds

A Swift in flight over Greenock Esplanade from last week. I think this is the only usable picture of a Swift I've ever taken. There are usually a few around Gourock and Greenock, particularly around the mid-point of the Esplanade. #birds

In April I photographed a Sparrowhawk pair building a nest in Glasgow. I heard they'd had young but hadn't seen much evidence of that for myself, until Thursday night when I watched all four juveniles playing around the trees near the nest and making a racket. #birds

My youngest is home for the summer so yesterday (Friday) we went a photo walk, catching her up on some Glasgow places. Wildlife was not a target but we still managed a Peregrine and two Kingfishers, including this adult male on the river Kelvin. #birds

Kingfisher sits on a branch over the water. He has an all-black beak and bright orange feet.

Young Kestrels in Glasgow. I've held these pics back a few weeks and i'm not going to give location as its a fairly vulnerable and very busy urban spot. Thought for a while it might be mum plus three but fairly sure its four young, not far off fledging when this was taken. #birds

Four young Kestrels peer out from an elevated position surrounded by stonework. One is calling out, its beak wide open.

Costa del Clyde this morning. Dolphins showed as soon as I stepped off the train; after the haze burnt off the Waverley steamed past; a Greenshank, which didn't hang around long; juvenile Ringed Plover in heat-haze at Battery Park. #birds
