I’m the kind of human wreckage that you love. He/Him

"Tate McRae deflects political question again" I'm sorry, you're talking to a country singer from Alberta names Tate McRae, what possible alternative answer could there be to that question?

Replaying the Mass Effect trilogy in 2021 really made me think about how much more honest the Renegade playthrough of those games is. Like, of course a black ops space cop with a blank check and immunity from prosecution is going to get the job done by shooting first and asking questions maybe.

It really is the height of absurdity that multiple Canadian flight attendant unions have had to go on strike now just to ensure their members get paid for the multiple hours of work they do before and after every flight.

We gotta figure out what it is about certain 500+ word social media posts that tricks certain people into treating them like strenuously peer-reviewed scientific papers.

It's funny when people get nitpicky about stuff like The Odyssey and say shit like "Actually, they wouldn't have had armour like that in the Bronze Age!" Yeah, they also wouldn't have had cyclopes or gods or enormous cliff-dwelling tentacle monsters, either.

Social media algorithms please stop showing me Gen-Z and Gen Alpha pop culture. I do not know what a Beabadoobee or a BBNo$ are and I don't want to know. That's for the youth, who aren't old and cranky. None of my business, and it would make it worse for everyone involved if it was.

PETA loves to be like "What if that steak you just ate was a sexy lady? Didn't think about that, did you???" And like, no, of course I didn't. I'm not the direct inverse of a cartoon wolf from 1937, you fucking weirdos.

Letterboxd is great. I love seeing a mix of real, thoughtful critique and my friends’ silly little one liners about a crappy movie they just watched. That’s what social media SHOULD be.

(stand up comedian walks on stage) how’s everybody doing tonight (crowd booing) oh come on I haven’t even started the jokes yet! (one audience member explains too quietly for the mic to pick up) oh? you’re just doing that bad? well that makes sense, I haven’t even started the jokes yet

Having rewatched Infinity War and Endgame last weekend, I am open to the idea that I will enjoy Avengers: Doomsday on some level, but the work they're putting in to try and make us all remember live action Channing Tatum Gambit beyond his one-note joke appearance in Deadpool 3 is so fucking weird.

On the one hand, yes, someone should do something, but on the other hand, at this point if you're stupid enough to give Elon Musk access to your banking information, you kind of deserve what you get.

Today's Odyssey discourse reminds me of the time some local news anchor who called 50 Shades of Grey by far the worst movie she'd ever seen. Like, it's not so much a case of the movie actually being good or not so much as "if this is your frame of reference, of what value is your opinion on this?"
