Big Change

We find, support, and connect an intergenerational community of changemakers rethinking and reshaping the systems around young people. ✨

Many young people have a vision, plan, and a real desire to make a difference. But too often they struggle to be taken seriously, or to access the funding and networks they need to make change happen. (1/2)

✨ Last year, we launched the Spark Awards, backing young changemakers across England with funding, hands-on development, and a community of peers that stays with them long after the programme ends — to help them turn bold ideas into real change. (1/3)

How is Climate Courage building a climate movement with music at the heart of it? 🌱 Let Dominique P. explain. We spoke to her at an open mic hosted by Climate Courage, a Spark Awards-backed project equipping young people with the skills and confidence to take meaningful action in the movement.

🗣️ What would Dion do if he became Prime Minister for a day? We caught up with the Brighton Aldridge Community Academy student, on the sidelines of a CanTeam event, to find out. Tell us what would you do if you became the leader of your country? 👇

Ayman Maarouf graduated with a degree but soon discovered a skill-gap between theory and practice. WEEE Renew gave him hands-on experience, translating that knowledge into real-world practice. Hear him talk about how WEEE Renew, backed by Spark Awards, helped him and why the work matters.

We met Dion and his mum Utpala at a CanTeam event at Brighton Aldridge Community Academy! We spoke to them as they took a quick break from cooking biryani and kottu for a school community lunch with students, parents, teachers, and guests. Hear them talk about why events like these are important. 💚

On World Environment Day, we're spotlighting Frances, who leads Spark Awards-backed Climate Courage, Climate Live which is mobilising young people in the climate movement through joy, wellbeing, and music. Hear what ignited her passion, and her advice for fellow young leaders. 🌍

What happens when young people get to tell their own stories? #BigChangemaker Lily Mott is enabling young people to do just that. She received a Spark Award for Be the change. Media Academy and we're so proud to be part of her journey. This Million Acts of Hope Week, hear Lily's impact story. 💚

This Million Acts of Hope Week, meet Aiyana Goodfellow! They're a Spark Awards changemaker leading NEUROMANCERS, a peer-led mental health initiative for neurodivergent+ young people. Leaders like Aiyana give us so much hope. Thank you, Aiyana and NEUROMANCERS! 💚

This Million Acts of Hope week, we're asking: what are your hopes for young people? 💚 For Jonathan Harper, Big Changemaker and founder of CanTeam, it looks like schools becoming places where everyone can feel like they belong, and where communities can gather and thrive. Hear from Jonathan!

We love seeing our community create real change. 💚 Big Change awarded a #SparkAward to WEEE Renew in 2025 to support their work in tackling youth unemployment through digital skills and e-waste recycling. Hear from Vijai Patel, who’s leading WEEE Renew about the real impact they’re making.

How did the Spark Awards help turn an idea into real change for young people? ✨ Vijai spent 2 years unable to land a job after graduating. He now leads WEEE Renew, with support from Big Change, to tackle youth unemployment through digital inclusion and e-waste recycling.

One week on, and we’re still smiling about our Big Day Out. Our Big Change community, together with supporters, partners, and allies came together from across the country - from Northumberland to Brighton, from Blackpool to Bristol, from Manchester to the Midlands and beyond. 💚
