It’s hard to assume the MCU learned any lessons from Spider-Man: Brand New Day when its director, Destin Daniel Cretton, is not only not directing the next Avengers movie as was once the plan, but Marvel also just killed the second season of his Wonder Man show.

I still think there’s a shot Spider-Man: Brand New Day comes in ahead of Avengers: Endgame’s $357.1M record for an opening weekend once the actual numbers come in later today. It’s safer to claim the record on a Monday than have to backtrack after a victory lap on Sunday.
