Another pain point firms encounter when adopting our products is customization. 🙅 Not everyone uses the same terminology. 🙅 This collection integrates Dynamo scripts that allow firms to easily update standards without the painful process of manually updating in Revit.✅

One of the issues our upcoming Revit detail item collection address' is documentation. Customers can choose between keynoting or our custom detail item tagging documentation that preloads terminology while also supporting instance based context.

It's official, July 27th will be the release of our new Ultimate Detail Item Collection! We are super excited by this Revit family collection because the OOTB detail items were always a pain point when we generated construction details. Mark you calendars!

Shoutout to @jtp.fyi for his Rhythm package. Was trying to upgrade family files using our typical add-in in 2027 but it kept crashing partway through. This saved our bacon.

We used CTC family processor to generate type catalogs for our upcoming collection (Didn't want to create a dynamo script right now).

👀Looks like we are FINALLY in the home stretch for the Ultimate Detail Item Collection. Looks to be about two more weeks before the collection is released!

New feature for the forthcoming detail item collection is the ability to update family parameters using an excel file and our dynamo script. It'll be an experiment to see if customers take to this process.

Top is the old version for one of our insulation detail item families. The bottom is our updated version. We simplified the rigging to speed up resolving geometry. The new family does feel noticeably snappier.

Some of the things we are working on for the forthcoming Revit detail item collection is more applied fill patterns, the ability to swap to masking only, better line weight controls, unified graphical standard, and cohesive parameter naming standards.

Over 400 Revit detail items reconfigured. Roughly 250 detail items left to complete. 😰

BIMLink saving my bacon. I cannot believe we used to make families and templates without this software.

User: I would like to create a new family type. That shouldn't be difficult. Revit: NooOOOoo. Why would you think? You don't see why? User: Why? Revit: It's because, that's why.

Am I crazy? Why does Autodesk make it so cryptic to understand the parameters I adjust? Looking around it does not seem to be a standard label that coordinates with ASTM charts. I just want parameters easy to understand at a glance.

I am what programmers call "Refactoring" my scripts. It feels weird to use that term since I am trained in and support the construction industry. Only swapping out nodes and not reorganizing if statements in the command line feels different. Anyone use a different word?

A little peek behind the curtain. Two weeks ago I dusted off the old cobwebs to build a, complicated for me, dynamo script. I spent the next few days creating, fighting with AI, and troubleshooting workarounds. Finally, I was able to automate a repeated 5-10 minute task for family editing.

Dynamo scrip file is completely merked. No amount of replacing nodes will run the script. Does this happen if you accidentally save a script that outputs an "unhandled exception" error? Trying to keep this from happening again.

The script gets a little spaghetti towards the middle. However, now we no longer have to spend 5 minutes setting up standards on each family for over 400 family files.

Nothing like working with AI to assist with a simple python script, having it confidently give multiple clarifications on inputs and revisions to complete the workflow only for it to finally admit the workflow is not possible through the API.
