Hi, wondering how to write good image descriptions and #AltText? Here's a detailed breakdown for you 🧵 [I am not claiming to be an expert, this advice is based on my personal experience as a visually impaired person.]

Hello everyone! I am making a directory/list on storygraph and Gr for 'ownvoices' books that represent fiction and non-fiction QUEER DISABLED BIPOC perspectives. Do contribute! Also would anyone be interested in a gr group etc focused on reading those books? Links below/1

Hello everyone in 2023 I had hosted a challenge on Twitter called #WritersMayhemOfMay It had 3 parts, a 7 day Q/A, a 7 day Snippet Share, and then a Make A Playlist party where everyone suggest songs that fit the vibes of book pitches I was wondering if anyone would be interested if I did it again?

Some are suggesting you deliberately write inaccurate or confusing alt text, because they say this confuses AI scrapers that are analyzing images. The purpose of alt text is to help people who cannot see the image. Deliberately misrepresenting the image is a gross misuse of alt text. Don't do it.

Don't forget transcripts for video and audio. These will help blind users and low-vision users, deaf and hard-of-hearing users, people with ADHD, and people with audio-processing disorders. Transcripts also benefit search engines, people in quiet spaces, and people in a hurry.

Hi everyone! Don't know if you remember but in 2022 and 2023 i used to host a writing prompt every Sunday called #SundaysSoftness. It was mainly on Twitter, though I had done a few on BlueSky. I was wondering if anyone would be interested if I started it again here and on Twitter?

Hi does anyone have books about chronic illness/pain/disability that focus on slowly loosing your sense of self and then gaining it again and then loosing it again due to falling more sick again/aggravated flare up/additional condition diagnosis etc Preferably fiction. /1

To avoid being censored by social media platforms, some people intentionally misspell words or replace letters with symbols or numbers. This causes confusion and problems for screen reader users, people with cognitive and reading disabilities, and people learning the language.
