Anarchist organizing actually has a history in Maine. The successful 1904 anarchist IWW strike at Marston's Mills in Skowhegan was national news and a model for later IWW textile strikes in MA. The 1912 rallying cry in Lawrence, "Bread & Roses", still seems like a good goal in life to me.
We're at Maine's first radical book fair and I've had to step out to just cry a little. It's so nice to be here with the folks doing the work and making art and being in community and we've made so many glorious connections. It's so invigorating.
All of us book fair organizers are a very happy tired from the fair this weekend. Thank you to everyone who made the space, volunteers, vendors, speakers, attendees, chefs! The enthusiasm and goodwill was absolutely palpable and we were blown away by the response. ❤️🔥 Until next year! 🐈⬛
