👑My King (no more)⚔️< My piece for the "My Liege: Queer Knights in Love" artbook by @novamali.bsky.social and @damesprod.bsky.social . It was a joy to draw some sad old men in love for this.

The illustration itself is separated in three parts, with the top and bottom being inspired by medieval manuscripts showing two separate scenes of the elderly kings. The top is them in an empty throne room, backlit by a window. The shorter, white haired king is kissing the taller, dark haired kings hand. The bottom is the two kings kissing in the forest with a castle looming in the backgorund. There are round frames in the center of the two panels showing lovers eye inspired paintings of the kings eyes (which is not a medieval thing, I know, don't come for me XD) surrounded by forget-me-nots.
The middle and main part of this illustration is the two kings all armored up on a battle field, surrounded by their armies, crossing swords. The idea behind it was that of a secret love between two kings, maybe something that existed a long time but something that was not allowed to be. We don't know what happens in their future or what led to this fight.
